nelms Posted December 15, 2003 Share Posted December 15, 2003 3 things (in that order of priority) that Joe Theismann mentioned on tonight's ESPN game as the most important aspects of a football player. That was Joe Gibbs philosophy and still is today with his racing team. Sadly, this Redskins team is sorely lacking in the first two. There are too many selfish and stupid players on this team (see: Bruce Smith, Rod Gardner, Jeremiah Trotter). Who is to blame? That's an easy question. The owner and general manager of the Redskins, Mr. Daniel Snyder. I've read some here defending Snyder, saying that "the players aren't getting it done, so it's not the owner's fault". That's like blaming the under performance of a company on the employees and not the CEO. In any organization, the ultimate responsibility lies with the leader of that organization. Unfortunately, Mr. Snyder has anointed himself general manager of this team. That's like the CEO of General Motors anointing himself the COO, CFO, and CIO. As long as this current organizational structure is in place, we will never field a competitive team. Ever. Until Mr. Snyder brings in a real footbal person to run this football team and bring in the right coaches and the right players, you're going to see the same results every year.
