Sonny Joe Hog
Birds that winter over are starting to starve due to the cold weather. The road in front of my house in Maryland is dotted with dead Flickers, Juncos, etc. Blue Birds are now showing up on decks to search for food when they normally stay in the woods during the winter. These birds can handle the cold but they are having a hard time finding food. Please put out sunflower seeds, suet, small fruits like raisins (cut fruits into very small pieces), peanut butter, and other bird foods. Thank you! skinsfan44
No problem. I have been doing it for years. I have 3 Finch feeders, 2 Sunflower feeders(1 single tube and 1 triple tube) 1 Woodpecker feeder, 4 suet cages, and I put 50lb bags of loose corn on the ground, so the squirrels and deer can eat too. Living in the country, you get alot of differant aniamls, so I try to help them out. When it snows(like it is doing right now) the deer will dig for accorns in my woods, but with the corn, I know they will be alright.
redman
It's not much help to the Eastern birds, but I have a bird feeder outside that I keep filled with seed. I also have a hummingbird feeder, but it's too early in the year for those birds.
tex
Helping the birds here in the desert. Suet and wild bird seed in the winter and humming bird feeders in the summer. Careful with the carcasses. This is not WNV season but you never know.
