Radical Draft Idea!

Here's the problem: We still have personnel that we need to evaluate and don't really know what we need yet. We should have the answers in the 2003 season to question like: Do we need a QB? Do we need a RB? Do we need a better #2 CB? Do we need to replace Bruce Smith? Do we need to replace Jeremiah Trotter? Do we need a go-to WR?

These are a lot of questions. And we don't know the answers yet.

Also: This draft looks rather weak, with next year's being MUCH better, with Eli Manning (a Manning playing for Spurrier!), the RB from VA Tech, RB Maurice Clarrett, WR Roy Williams in Texas, and others.

So what if we trade our draft picks THIS year for extra picks NEXT year???

Coaches and GMs are under pressure to win NOW, so draft picks in 2003 are more valuable than draft picks in 2004.

So, say we trade our:

-First round pick in 2003 for a #1 and #2 in 2004,

-Second Round Pick in 2003 for a #1 in 2004

-Third Round Pick in 2003 for a #2 in 2004

And so on?

We could use the cap $ we'd spend on draft picks THIS year on FAs to solidify positions and use 2004 to have a major influx of young talent. It could be like what Dallas did with the Herchel Walker trade. Imagine, in 2004, having three first rounders, three second rounder, two third rounds, and so on!

Thought?
