Interesting that we decided not to wear the throwback jersey for the home Dallas game.

Apparently Dan is trying to work the mojo to ward off the curse...

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news/ap/20020206/ap-redskins-newuniform.html

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) -- Coach Steve Spurrier, looking at the Washington Redskins' new helmet, had to go deep into the color chart to convince himself that he's not turning into a Seminole.

``We're burgundy,'' Spurrier said. ``That other school is not burgundy.''

The Redskins revealed the throwback uniforms Wednesday that they will wear at home games for their 70th anniversary season. The helmet features a spear and feathers, and Spurrier confessed it looks somewhat like the helmet worn by the former Florida coach's archrival, Florida State.

``A little bit,'' Spurrier said. ``Their colors are more maroonish, whereas ours is burgundy. It's Washington Redskins colors.''

The Redskins wore the uniform from 1965-69. The jerseys are a deeper shade of burgundy, and the pants are gold.

For road games, the team still will wear the traditional white jerseys with burgundy pants, and helmets featuring the team's Indian face logo. The white jerseys also will be worn for the home game against the Dallas Cowboys, who have beaten the Redskins nine straight times and are thought to be jinxed when wearing blue jerseys instead of white.

Owner Dan Snyder said the Redskins plan to wear the throwbacks for one season, unless Spurrier decides otherwise.

``If we're pretty successful, Dan,'' Spurrier said, ``we may have to wear it some more.''

Snyder said the change had nothing to do with the decades-long controversy over the team's name. Several groups have complained that the name Redskins and the use of the Indian face helmet is demeaning to American Indians.

``We won't be changing the name of the Redskins for 100 years-plus,'' Snyder said.
