They LOVE pop music over here, but they are mostly exposed to Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears and eurotrash kind of stuff. I am trying to give my kids a decent selection of songs that will hopefully inspire them to find English music on their own (A tall order, but I want to try). The two songs I have already (that I know they love) is Unbreak My Heart and Back At One. I was wondering if any of you guys have suggestions for songs that meet the following criteria: Pop or R&B No swearing No blatantly sexual lyrics Catchy chorus Slow to medium tempo Slightly under the radar (They have no clue who Tony Braxton or Brian McKnight are, I want to show them that there are tons of musicians out there that they have never heard of) No techno Passable grammer (I do not want my students saying "Where you at?" and stuff like that. At least not until they are 16) Songs they can sing along with (Karaoke ) My students about 11 years old. Any suggestions will be more than welcome.
