Execution56 Posted October 16, 2006 Share Posted October 16, 2006 We seem to all agree that the Redskins, do not have an identity as a football team: - Are we a passing team? - Are we a running team? - Are we a blitzing team? - Are we a smash mouth team? - Are we a physical team? - Are we a finesse team? WHAT THE HECK ARE WE? WHAT IS OUR IDENTITY? During Coach Joe Gibbs first go around, teams were scared to play our Redskins. We had the Hogs, Monk, Clark, Sanders, big arms in Theismann, Schroeder, Williams and Rypien. On defense we had ends that could rush the passer with run stuffing tackles and solid linebackers. Pettibon did not have any fancy "packages" just a bunch of hard nosed ballers. What do we have now? A bunch of pampered multi-millionaires cashing paychecks. However, most of these same players were here during our 6 game winning streak (including the playoff win). What was the common denominator? Our identity was pounding the rock and setting up the pass. The problem is that last season we did not have a complimentary receiver to Santana Moss. Now we apparently have at least two but Boooonell still does not trust that they can catch like Moss. For a good place to start fixing the problem, we need to remember how we won last season (plus the two games this season) and start running the football again. :point2sky Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
