MRMADD
Seems like the interest in Ahmad Brooks is heating up. I think the "he hates school" quote is a classic. From the SacBee: "The 49ers will consider making a bid for former Virginia linebacker Ahmad Brooks in the July 13 supplemental draft, personnel director Scot McCloughan said Tuesday." The supplemental draft is for players ineligible for the April draft, which includes those kicked off their college teams, such as Virginia linebacker Ahmad Brooks. The junior was booted on the eve of spring practice this year after playing in six games last season because of injuries. In his sophomore year, Brooks established himself as one of the best linebackers in the country and McCloughan said he could play all four linebacker spots. "He hates school, through and through," said McCloughan, who is still doing background checks on Brooks. From the Miami Herald: "Last June, we told you in this space that Miami had interest in taking Manny Wright in the NFL supplemental draft. This year, we hear the Dolphins are intrigued by Virginia linebacker Ahmad Brooks, who is expected to be available in the July 13 draft. " From the Boston Herald: "San Diego Chargers veteran Donnie Edwards and University of Virginia’s Ahmad Brooks both could pair with Tedy Bruschi inside, enabling Mike Vrabel to move back outside. AJWatson3
While Brooks is a sick talent I can't see him in New England. They stress intelligence and work-ethic... not only on the field but in the classroom. Brooks is not a good fit there. I wouldn't be shocked to see SF invest their 2nd or 3rd on him. And you know Saban would transform him into a nasty player... he has a history of dealing with "troubled" guys and could make it work there. That's where I'd love to see him go. MRMADD
2nd or 3rd? No way. I'd guess 4th. You're right that he could be downright nasty in Miami though.
Shotgunner
If the Pats grab him look out. Bellicheck will have him tuned up.
