The woman, who was not identified, told police Bettis attacked her in his car on Aug. 21, after she'd met him at a bar to have a football autographed. Bettis' lawyer, Bob Del Greco, confirmed Friday that police in Greensburg -- about 25 miles souteast of Pittsburgh -- contacted the player about the woman's claim. Del Greco said Bettis was cooperating with the investigation. "Jerome didn't engage in any sexual misconduct or criminal activity," Del Greco said. Del Greco refused to provide details about the woman's accusation, which was first reported by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in Friday's editions. The lawyer said Bettis had passed a voice-stress analysis, a type of lie-detector test, and also will allow his car to be searched, Del Greco said. The woman told police she had met Bettis earlier in August and asked if he would autograph a football for her 2-year-old son at a later date, Greensburg Police Chief Richard Baric said. The Steelers were in training camp at the time near Latrobe, about 10 miles east of Greensburg. The woman said that when she saw Bettis the second time on Aug. 21, the two went to her car to retrieve a ball. Bettis then asked the woman if she wanted to get into his vehicle, according to a police report. The woman told police Bettis drove out of the parking lot, parked on a street and forced her to perform oral sex. She said Bettis told her, "You better not fight. You better not do anything." Once the investigation is complete, a report is expected to be made to Westmoreland County District Attorney John Peck, who will decide if charges should be filed. Muskrat Posted September 12, 2002 Share Posted September 12, 2002 Y'know, far be it for me to insinuate that a woman might use this tactic as a method of getting a HUGE payday....but many of these 'claims' sound ridiculous. The catch is that it's a 'he said- she said' deal, so it's likely that a out-of-court settlement will be reached. The one thing that keeps popping up in my mind is that there are certainly enough football groupies out there, why 'force' someone to perform oral sex? That part just doesn't quite make sense to me. That and the thought: "why would she get INTO Bettis' car when they already had the football and all he had to do was sign it"? ...then the follow up question: Did he not have doorhandles on the passenger side of his car? Perhaps he had child safety locks on the front passenger side engaged so she couldn't get out? Sounds like a long way to go for a hummer. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Sadly though women who do that ruin it for the women who truly are sexually assaulted by famous people as they ruin the credibility for all women.
