wilbur58z
Wow, just watched the tape again and you've got to hand it to Gibbs and company for figuring out that quick hand offs are the best way to fight defenses who stack the box with 8 or 9 players. Getting it off that quickly reduces the ability of the defense to a) recognize the run and key in on it and get to the ball quickly. Almost before either a) or happens either Portis or Betts has already hit the hole. And the extra guys brought up to stop the run usually aren't near the ball when the tackle is finally made. Watching the game live it was evident to me we were running the ball with an attitude (especially in the last 3 quarters when they almost entirely went with the quick hand offs). It didn't seem to matter if the Bears had stacked the box. I don't recall that kind of methodical, power running ever occurring last year. We had games where Portis ripped off huge runs, but never that kind of consistent power running game we saw at times today. Clearly having Rabach and Jansen on the line helps, but the offensive staff also made some great adjustments in the offseason.
matty dread
Nice post, I was impressed with the way we were able to grind it out against a stacked box. Our offensive line did a hell of a job.
