Jon Allen on the junkies today said “when we do get it turned around, keep that same energy” (referring to frustrated commanders fans)

now, I like the guy, but……huh? What does that even mean? That people that are frustrated (and rightfully so) shouldn’t be able to change into being happy if the team turns it around? The **** kinda logic is that??

    the passion baby!

the loudness of the complaints should be drowned out by the roar of success!

You mean the same Pat Mahommes that got smoked in Superbowl LV 31-9 and didn’t score a touchdown.  The same Mahommes whose stat line was 26/49 for 270 2 ints, 3 sacks.  Kansas City didn’t have either starting tackle that night, maybe just a coincidence… the Chiefs spent the last 2 years rebuilding it for some weird reason.

But surely veteran Carson Wentz should “elevate” this offense single-handedly…

first 2 games he did..... historically.

Keep rookie sensation in waiting, Coke Turner, deactivated on game days so that "Dynamic" Dyami Brown can continue to do nothing of consequence.

ahhh Good one, cant forget this.

    and in that vein...

    - Make sure to include Bates in the passing game

    - When BRob is cleared to start, use him only as a bruising rb and not as a pass catcher.

    • Thumb up 1
  4. - Sit Forrest to send a message to the team (ala D.J. Swearinger)

    - Keep BenStJust at the slot.

    - Pound Antonio Gibson up the middle early and often to establish the run.

    - Stop running deep patterns to Dotson

    - Throw it to Terry twice as much as Samuels and Dotson

    - Don't get Percy Butler or Jeremy Reaves on the field

    - Only Play Jamin Davis on obvious passing plays and have him cover a WR

    - No Stunts with Sweat. Play containment

    Anything I am missing.

Agree with all except I don't think Forrest is a FS. McCain isn't a star but he's serviceable and I don't think he's the problem on defense.

McCain is vanilla. Vanilla is killing us.

Put Kam at Buffalo, put Forrest at SS and put Butler or Reaves at FS.

Reaves looked fantastic at the end of the season with Curl in 20.

Heck try putting Butler at the slot, he cant look worse than WTF3 or Kendra Fuller.

    Do SOMETHING.

I give them 2.5 COMBINED.  I think there is more then a vacuum. For instance- Yes _ Settle was a back up. But a good one that because he could give other players a rest at time, made them better.

I agree with your other takes. I like Wentz as a stop gap as well, but he cost us a LOT for a stop gap.

He did cost a lot, but his production though 3 games is 100% worth it.

Through 2 games he set NFL records for yards and tds with a new team.

Game 3 was a clear and present inditement on the coaching staff of having a pretty pathetic gameplan that consisted of "Run Terry, Samuels and Dotson out deep and let Wentz throw long."

It was clear when our OL was a turnstile and CW had no time to throw, let alone the WRs get deep, and WE HAD NO ANWER/ADJUETMENT, that Philly had game planned well and out coached us.

Heck all that said, the D still played well for 3 quarters.

Maybe getting BRob in action makes teams respect the run?....

Maybe If Young comes back we pressure the QB a little better?

    Doubt it makes significant difference.

We clearly need to resign Payne, draft a DE, LB, and CB and OL OL OL OL. and find some coaches that can gameplan, adjust, and start players based on ability and performance, not hoe much they like em.

So you are saying last year we win 15 games if Wentz was QB over Henicke?

Come on. We were having a good discussion.

Yeah but you gave us 2.5 wins with Flowers, Settle and Collins.....

I figured if we were getting out on the deep end we might as well get out there..... :)

Seriously, I like the Wentz addition, and Heinikie is a scrappy fantastic back-up. With Howell as a quality development in the wings I have no issues.

On that note, who would you have had as Heinikie's back-up? Still would have had to spend $$ there....

Wentz is a great 1 year stop-gap and if he puts up MVP numbers, would probably be willing to give a hometown discount to the team that resurrected his career, and if not, we can always move to the Howell experiment in addition to adding an FA, or using what appears to be a top 5 draft pick on a QB.

The only personnel issue I have is how LB was handled in the offseason and keeping both WJ3 and Fuller as starters @ CB.

The flowers, settles of the world are not going to take us to or keep us from the playoffs.

    Heinikie vs. Wentz will.

I would say Wentz has a WAR of about 2.5

I would say Settle, Collins and Flower combined has a WAR of 2.5

Sooo - Trading for  Wentz at the expensive of the other guys we had to cut to afford him gives us no additional wins.

    This is where we dieagree.

Settle was a back-up DL and came in occasionally and got a sack or 2. (Philadrian was an upgrade because of the upside, but unfortunate injury and while I do agree we should have kept setttle for depth, he wanted to start somewhere.) ((we are arguing about someone who has 2 tackles in 3 games for the bills..... ))

Collins was costing us games at S. He may have been a net 0 at the buffalo, but his $$ way more than he was worth.

Flowers was a back-up lineman that yes I would like to have, but oh well.

If 2 back-ups and a washed up slow saftety could get us 2.5 wins, yeah bust out the checkbook.

But I would argue that by these arbitrary standards, Wentz a WAR of 8 over Heineken. and I like Heineken.

There is a reason we have a top flight passing attack this year, and it aint solely because of Dotson.

Don't believe the hype on these absurd stories about Wentz's thin skin or how media stories adversely affect his play. Focus on coaches effectively utilizing his skillet and those of the weapons at his disposal. There are ZERO excuses for S. Turner now. ZERO. That's where my anger is directed relative to this offense.

    1000% agree.

This is on RR, STurner, and JDR.

I am pretty certain that a casual observer off the street could call plays more effectively at least 55% of the time.

  10. You have so much draft

I still can’t figure out what our coaches loves about Bobby McCain so much.

You have so much draft capital and potential sitting there in Forrest, Butler and Reaves played well with Kurl.

But we get to watch vanilla McCain.

  11. It is so frustrating that you people think that Wentz is the issue on this team right now.

There are 99 issues on this roster, but Carson Wentz is not one of them.

Now the eagles game exposed what happens if you dont have the RB's running to the flats to counter the blitz.

But that is poor game adjustments/planning.

That line looked like they were on the Philly payroll.

And to run Gibson 12 times for a whooping 38 yards is criminal.

So overall i think Wentz is a good QB and a upgrade.  HOWEVER -IT was dumb to sign.

Here is my question - What game last year did we lose that we would have won with Wentz vs Henickie?

I cant think of any.  MAYBE the dallas game at home?

So basically we upgrade the QB position but to do that we cut our 2nd best OL (flowers), our best LB (Collins. He was Terrible at Safety but great once he took on the hybrid, mostly LB role), and Tim Settle and added nothing to our Defense.

We did add some weapons on Offense - but we spent all our money to slightly improve a position that didn't really cost us games last year.

Right now - If we had kept Flowers, Collins, Settle, and Henickie as starting, and brought in 1 FA on Defense (Either LB or DB) would we win more games, less games, or the same amount of games this year?

Its only been 3 games but as of right now -I would think we would have been at LEAST the same, if not better.

    No flipping way.

We won the first 2 games cause Wentz threw for 600+ and 7 tds.

Now had we kept Settle, & Flowers, and maybe Ion, we would be in worlds better position, and more importantly if we had brought some flipping NFL caliber LB'rs and CB's into camp to compete with our dumpster fire of a depth chart, we might now be in this mess.

Oh wait, we would have needed to have brought in a non-gimpy non-panther O linemen or 2 to shore up the revolving turnstile that is an OL as well.

I love Henikie, the person, the story, the gritty determination.

To compare his arm with Wentz is dishonest.

Wentz took cap space, but we dont win the first game or have any hope of competing long term with his arm.

Howell is the only realistic option, but if this OL cannot stablize, you cannot put him in to get shellacked behind it.

You are thinking of it wrong. What games would we have won with Wentz and Dotson and a healthy Samuels.

  13. What did Bobby McCain do the first 2 weeks to to earn 64% of the snaps against the eagles vs. Forrest @ 34%?

Forrest played "lights out" the first 2 weeks, and you reward him by benching him?

Heck tell Kam you are working him back in and see what Forrest gives you with double the snaps.

I can understand giving Kurl 61% of the snaps, but to give Forrest only 34% when he and Payne have been our top 2 defensive players to this point in the season is a joke.

Forrest and Curl should be starters, with McCain getting 30% of snaps. Heck, Lets see what Reaves or Butler can do.

Lets get a 4/5 safety look. Cant make the D any worse.

The just last week stuff in that tweet isn’t true but I’ll give myself a little pat on the back. I said on the draft thread before we even drafted Davis that on the rare times Kentucky rushed him u can see his potential on that front

At this stage I am pretty certain the coaches are cruising the stadium looking for tips on how to right the ship......

We are only 3 games in but already, you get sense the season is realistically over already at 1-2.  Where are the remaining wins?

We still have a chance of winning vs. Colts, Texans and the Bye week.

  16. Having the spike of hope of RG3 and the rookie season and seeing those hope and dreams unravel like his knee, makes you numb to  the last few decades.

We have devolved into junkie status. A slight spike of hope around the draft, "We dont need no stinking free agents, we can win with our guys dad gum it! This is the year Cam Sims, Preston Smith, Marko Mitchell Jamin Davis, Albert Connell....etc really put it together and Mark Brunell/Alex Smith/Jeff George/Carson Wentz is going to take us deep through the playoffs!" "We have Bruce Smith/Dana Stubblefield/Albert Haynsworth up front and Jeremiah Trotter/Lavar Arrington/Adam Archuletta This is going to be the year!"

Ole Gruden/Marty/Spurrier/Rivera/Turner is the finest mind in football and will gameplan us to the promised land!

sigh.... and now I have to wait 7 months for another good hit on the Skins/WTF/Commoders bong.

The way Ron and Co attacked the LB position is one of the most perplexing Roster decisions I have seen in a long time. Everyone and their mother saw LB as an issue. Regardless of their view on the position of LB in modern football (which they are wrong about) I dont know how you dont throw any assets at it. There was 3-4 LB options staring them in the face with their second pick to just take a run stuffing DT after letting a decent one walk to not even get more snaps in the place hes going to.

    Just mind numbingly bad decisions

Look at the way Forrest tosses a 6'3" 194pd receiver and makes the bone crunching hit.

He is becoming my new crush and I sure hope to see more of him and Curl on the field. Or Percy. Or make him the Buff nickle or make Curl the Buff Nickle, but KEEP FORREST ONTHE FIELD and let him teach the LB's how to hit.

If Cousins were to play for approximately 10 more years, at his current 17 game average of passing touchdowns at 30, he would finish 4th all time in passing touchdowns behind Peyton Manning.  In Cousins first 120 starts he has 1,932 more passing yards and 19 more touchdowns than Brees did in his first 120 starts.

I have never understood the Cousins hate. Dude is a baller, and "You Like That"

  19. Terry, Dotson, Samuels and Bates all score TD's in the air, and Gibson breaks one off and takes it to the house.

Jags pound the running game early, and Trevor gets shook by a Payne hit and throws 3 picks while trying to make up ground in the 2nd half.

Jags have the ball for 40 min.

    Commies win 38 - 16.

Wentz is still considered very pedestrian by the media and it is chalked up to "the weapons around him make him look good".

Percy has a 2 pick day, and Payne gets 2 sacks to go with 1 by Phidarian.

Jamin has the 3rd pick to go with 8 solo tackles and a FF and Tress Way never touches the ball.

(Dad gum I just jinxed us hard!)
