  1. So i recall seeing an expose of falcons owner Arthur Blank a few years ago.  When he bought the Falcons, the Georgia Dome's attendance was well below capacity. So instead of just letting those seats go empty, he dropped the price for season tickets and the ticket prices for the unsold seats were lowered to baseball nose-bleed rates. The stadium was filled and its really energized the franchise.

Not sure if that ultimately increased revenues, and if it was tried here we'd probably just get 15,000 extra Cowboys and Eagles fans attending the team's games against the Bears, Colts, and Titans.

I know most people aren't happy with the draft from an OL/T situation...but even if Coleman ends up having to move to guard, at least he's a guy with the measurable and athleticism indicative of a tackle. I have more hope for that than someone who is almost certainly a guard in these aspects that we hope can outplay their traits and become a tackle.

I think the issue here is that the team released its (below average) starter before the draft, didn't sign a real replacement in free agency, and didn't address the position until it was too late in the draft.  If Coleman was good LT prospect, he would have been taken much higher.  So keeping our rookie franchise quarterback upright now falls in large part on a rookie 3rd round draft choice.  Anyone have Charles Leno's  phone number?  How's his hip?

  3. Redskins plan at left tackle reminds me of this:

Draft star quarterback whose only obvious weakness is slight frame + Dont sign left tackle in free agency +  Draft guard/hopefully left tackle at beginning of 3rd round = success.

The underwear gnomes would be proud guys.

rey is getting a new movie about rebuilding the Jedi order I think.

I’m fine with that and pushing new characters and new time periods. The worst thing Star Wars has done the last decade is just cram legacy characters like Anakin, Luke, Vader, etc into everything and give us stories like Kenobi that have no reason to exist or significantly detract from the existing material. This has ruined Mandalorian as his show is taken over by “hey look remember this character!”

the two things that actually tried to be something different or do unique things with the story and characters, TLJ and Andor, are far and away the best thing SW has done in decades

So Rey was Luke’s daughter.  Never found out who the mom was, maybe that’s the big reveal in episode 10.

i asked and got an answer.  Basically the Admin Assistant/Office Manager.  I know in my office the Admin assistant is the MVP she keeps track of all the minutia the rest of us cant  cause of our other responsibilities

Yeah, it sounds like from the title that she's going to be putting on a headset and scheming up defensive adjustments at half time. My office manager is also our MVP, couldn't operate without her.

  6. Without reading through the past 50 pages of this thread, who is Sarah Hogan and what the hell is a "Coaching Chief of Staff?" Is this some sort of publicity stunt by the team to appease to remnants of Dan's anti-female/sexist reign, like when they stuck Donaldson in the radio booth?

They struggled with having a forum for it for the first couple years or so but gave up on trying to manage it according to what I read there back at the time. I haven't visited the site myself though for many years.

Some of the former ES members, mainly far right wing types who were often constantly posting on politics, and who couldn't conduct themselves by the rules here, actually started to get appropriately flagged for violations and predictably got very pissy about their "freedoms" being "oppressed" by "biased" moderating and looked to return to their glory days in what they figured would be their new safe space.

But some equally bubbly lefties went at them and it all became more than the mods there wanted to deal with.

So they just eliminated discussion of those topics entirely.

I guess every man needs to be able to step back and take and do a bit of self analysis from time to time.  I find that the more contradictory evidence a person is presented with, the harder they attempt to defend their position.  Basic survival instincts at play.  At least for those that have any goddamn testosterone left in their veins.

It's my nickname for BGO. It's the political party The Gang formed on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The motto was "reason shall prevail."

BGO sold itself as the calm, intelligent, rational alternative to this place. Within a week, every thread was just McD5 or whatever that loon's name was and Sarge yelling at each other.

I checked that the BG Obsession website yesterday.  They don't even have a sub-forum for political discussion. Maybe they did at the time, but one of the mods said something on there about not having one, and not wanting to make one because there was no demand for it. That was in a thread where they were discussing the demise of ES back a couple months ago when this website was shut down for like 24 hours. Seems like there's a few former ES members there that are regulars.

to be fair that's a chicken or the egg. if, after seattle interviewed macdonald the first time, they hired quinn, i could say "if macdonald was the coach we thought he was, seattle woulda hired him."

Lots of bad chicken near Salisbury State. You can smell if from inside your car.

  10. I'm he's been talked about ad nauseum here, but in my opinion we should have gone hard after Jim Harbaugh, and paid him whatever he asked for.  Proven winner in the NFL. Took a 10 year break to go to college, reached the pinnacle there. I don't think he would miss a beat here in the NFL.  May have seemed like a Danny-Era hire, but the new regime can't be gun shy as a result of Danny's mistakes.

This team is trash until the results on the field are better.  There's no other way to look at it.

New owner?  Great, Dan is gone.  New GM?  Great, let's see what he can do.

Until then, this team is trash.  Trash team in a trash stadium.

In regards to being upset with the guy for ditching "us" during the plane ride...timing's never perfect.  Clearly, not many of you have been in the recruiting/hiring chair before.  The fact that OMG, THE COMMANDERS BRASS WAS IN THE AIR means nothing.  It means LESS than nothing.  Would you guys be whining about this if they were informed while they were on the tarmac instead?  Would that be better?

What this really tells me, if anything, is that Ben Johnson is not sure that he wants to be a head coach. He has to realize that this opportunity may never present itself again. The Lions offense could go in the tank next year, and he's missed his window.  Or the team could go in the tank over the next two years, Dan Campbell gets fired along with his staff, and he's out looking for an open position as a QB coach.

Remember when people were talking a few years ago about how Scott Turner was an offensive genius, and how he could be the next Redskins assistant to be head coach elsewhere?  I guess he might be the Pats OC next year.

I see his body language as “not happening here” at least I’m hoping that’s it

I think his body language is "I should have brought my medium size suitcase so i could carry on all of my clothes, instead checking one of my bags. I think it would fit in the overhead compartment. But then I wouldn't have been able to take back the complimentary bottle of 3 Olives they gave me after my interview."

So we hire Ben Johnson - OC is likely Hank Fraley - maybe someone else he's worked with closely that can elevate. But BJ is essentially the OC/play-caller. I'm more interested in DC.

Is Anthony Weaver someone that would come be our DC? It's probably an upgrade in title since he's "assistant head coach/DL" in Baltimore but here he could call defensive plays. Then again, why would he come here if he can just stay in BAL and replace Macdonald.

Dan Quinn is likely going back to DAL unless he ends up in SEA. In which case Macdonald stays in BAL and Weaver could come here to call plays. Then there's the option of going after Mike Vrabel as DC, but would he come here with possibly better options on the table? Are there many DC roles currently left open? Do we know?

Hank Fraley went to Gaithersburg HS. Nothing good ever came out of there....

  14. So if one thing can be said for Ron, he came into an ownership situation that was bad on the football side, and for reasons completely out of his control, quickly became bad on the internal/legal side/HR side. I think he was able to do a pretty good job separating the football side from the dumpster fire that was raging on the ownership/administrative side.

I see where you are coming from but there are more bust in the top half of the NBA drafts every year than in any other league in my opinion.By the way, how was the track record of our last owner?

I think you missed my point.  I hated Snyder, he was terrible, and a trash bag full on rabid monkey **** would have been a better owner.  Success is relative to the other teams in the league, so Harris's team have seen only an average level of success. I'm just not ready to jump all over Harris' jock because owns two other teams and has seen average results.

Picks in the top 15 of the NBA draft have a high bust rate because there's on 5 guys of the court, 15 to a team. That's why there's only 2 rounds now. But the really high draft picks in the NBA have seen far greater success than in MLB or the NFL.  In the NBA, there have been 14 #1 draft picks since 1965 that have made the hall of fame, with 2 or 3 more playing right now that will surely make it. Since 1965, there have been only 2 #1 overall draft picks that have made the hall of fame in MLB, Bryce Harper may end up being the third.   For NFL, the number is only 10 since 1965, and I don't see any good bets in the hopper after Peyton Manning from 1999 and 2016. The #1s after 2016 are still too young to judge.
