    Evaluating Jay Gruden in 2018

Wow, front office apologists. What’s the Skins record during Bruce’s tenure? 58-82-1, 40% win percentage, unacceptable. Bruce’s gutless no show post Reuben Foster signing. No public comments or press conference. Throw Doug Williams under the bus. Bruce’s handling of Cousins contract debacle. Have a good day Kurt.

Who should be the next head coach for the Skins

Completely agree Snyder and Allen are the bigger issues, and I detest both of them. Allen should be fired tomorrow if Danny Boy had any character and leadership. As Skins fans, it comes down to two choices: 1) Recognize that Snyder will continue to own the team for a long time. Continue to advocate for bringing in a President/GM that can install a credible football operation, and have a long term successful plan. 2) Based on Snyder’s almost 20 years of clown car leadership, close down the forums, stop watching/attending Redskin games, and find another team to support. I’m leaning towards option 2. SSDYear I’m about done with.

Who should be the next head coach for the Skins

That was just one example of Gruden’s Achilles heel; Inflexible playcalling, and poor in game adjustments. Regarding the “same team next year”, I doubt we retain 100% of this year’s roster. Waiting for your expert reply...

Who should be the next head coach for the Skins

I’m sure Jay Gruden would be a great neighbor to invite to a cookout. But I don’t like him as our head coach, and he has lost the players now. They don’t respect him.

Scapegoat? Are you kidding us? He doesn’t adjust his play calling based on his players/talent. Prime example is AP. His career was built on vertical run plays, often out of an I formation. Does Jay do this? No, majority of run calls are lateral with him.
  6. Clinton Portis calling out the offensive play calling now on The Team 980. He is spot on!
  7. Agreed! More proof Jay and staff should be canned ASAP. Picking Sanchez over Josh Johnson more proof!

Unbias, your post about Bruce has more of an apologist vs. unbiased tone. I will have to go back and research all the debacles during Bruce's tenure that have his fingerprints all over the pickle jar. Here's a few: Current handling of Reuben Foster signing. Too gutless to make a public statement as Team President. Throwing Doug and Jay under the bus to defend/explain the signing. Handling of the "Kurt" Cousins contract fiasco. Need I say more? Propensity to take chances on players with injury histories to get them on the cheap. some have panned out (Jonathan Allen), but we wonder why we have so many injured starters the last few years? Smith and McCoy injuries unavoidable. Team record since Bruce's tenure roughly 40%. Do you think this is acceptable even with Snyder as the team owner? I think most on this forum agree the crumbling of this once great franchise rests at the feet of Six Flags Danny. So since we all realize it's not going to get better until Snyder sells the team, or reduces his ownership to a minority stake, why don't we all just pack it in and start rooting for the Ravens? I've been a Skins fan for 50 years, since I was 5 years old. Like Dandy Don Meredith used to sing on MNF, turn out the lights, the party's over. Let's all stop the madness, and quit lining the pockets of the current THE WORST OWNER IN PROFESSIONAL SPORTS. I'm hanging on by my fingertips hoping things will change, but at some point, why support a team that won't even attempt to earn the respect of their fan base?

Thoughts from those that know NFL defensive schemes/adjustments better than I? A few basic observations: 1) Too much run blitzing. Can cause disruption by D-Line shifts and stunts vs. blitzing. 2) Poor in game adjustments and substitutions. 3) Unwillingness to bench starters not performing. Prime example Ha Ha Dix. Poor angles and afraid to hit and tackle. Nicholson playing special teams, so he's healthy. I'd take my chances with him. At least he's aggressive, and a big hitter. Also, why not play JHD or even Zach Vigil who are better against the pass, and have better sideline to sideline speed vs. Mason Foster?
