If everyone stays healthy (which is a BIG if with this team) the combo of Wentz, Terry, Dotson, and Samuel is going to at least be entertaining this year. This defense is gonna be tough to watch against decent offenses though

I can see, for several reasons (winning team, friends like Tatis on the team, weather, etc), SD getting a little more benefit than us, but I still think its 99.9% chance he goes to FA. As others have said, that was his plan all along. The thing going against SD is their payroll already is insane, so they won't be able to afford his contract. Guessing he's just a very expensive rental for them for 3 playoff runs.

I think the Nats are going to have just as good of a chance signing him in FA in 2.5 years as they would've if we didn't trade him.

In what world is this the Lerners fault when they’ve said since the beginning that Soto is going to free agency no matter what. At least we completely fixed our farm before he goes to free agency 

They were right about the best pitcher in baseball pitching tonight 

One thing I keep reminding myself is that we’ve been hearing for years that Boras wouldn’t let Soto sign an extension and would allow him to test free agency. I think Rizzo saw that too. So nothing has changed besides us moving our farm from 25 to 5th in one day, and we still have the same odds at resigning Soto in 2 years.
