  1. The Commanders fan guide to obsessing over the coaching search by watching the NFL playoffs. Five of the known seven candidates are involved this weekend -- Ben Johnson and Raheem Morris head-to-head -- along with others to note should the list expand.  Peters has yet to sign a contract, but the soon-to-be former San Francisco 49ers assistant general manager agreed to terms to become the Commanders’ next general manager on Friday. Now, the personnel executive who came up the ranks scouting for Bill Belichick’s New England Patriots and the Peyton Manning-led Denver Broncos will have a significant say in Washington’s next coach.

  2. Commanders head coach Ron Rivera has not name a starter for Week 17 and it feels like a safe bet that someone else will be picking the quarterback in 2024, so there’s plenty of unknowns in front of Howell, Brissett and the rest of the Commanders. One known for Howell is that he has a veteran teammate willing to help him navigate a rough time.

  3. Just about every good QB  Rookie or veteran will hit a bad patch at sometime or another.  Do you give up already on Howell usually you will see a big jump in year two. Quote from Jacoby Brissett: I hope Sam Howell leans on me to help him through this. “I told him ‘This is going to be the hardest part of your career right now. It’s going to feel like you’re in this by yourself. It’s snowballing. It’s one thing after another, it’s one thing after another,’” Brissett said at his postgame press conference. “But I know from being in this league, man, the good ones find a way to get to the other side. No matter how long it takes, how hard it is. You surround yourself with good people. I hope he leans on me as one of those good people that will help him get through this because I know I will.”

  4. Adam Peters - San Francisco 49ers assistant general manager:

Could this be the year Adam Peters becomes a general manager?

Peters has interviewed for numerous jobs and was a finalist for the New York Giants before they hired Joe Schoen in 2022. No one needs to look further than the star-studded roster San Francisco has accumulated on its path to becoming a perennial Super Bowl contender.

Peters has been with the 49ers since 2017 as the vice president of player personnel and was elevated to assistant general manager in 2021. Before joining San Francisco, Peters was with the Denver Broncos for eight seasons (2009-2016) and moved up the ranks, eventually becoming the team's director of college scouting.

Peters has also been credited for being high on tight end George Kittle and receiver Deebo Samuel before the 49ers drafted them.  If you're going to mimic a team when building a roster, one can't do much better than the 49ers. Should Harris go that route, Peters should be near the top of his list of GM candidates.

I know around 20 people who are going to this game tomorrow night.  For me, it’s been quite a while since I could say I knew that high of a number.  Almost all are Commanders fans.  Thursday night prime time in front of the whole country.  People seem legitimately excited for this game.  A great way that would carry over to the next one would be for the team to handle business in a convincing fashion.

I am taking my two sons up tomorrow.  My first game in 5 years.  To be honest I have not been this excited for a game in a long time.

lol, would be a sight to see. But the WR would never have established possession, given he never touched the field before going out. It’s a funny visual but it’s no different than pushing a guy out of bounds on the sideline while he’s in the air (after the ball is in his hands), functionally.

    1. If a player, who is in possession of the ball, is held up and carried out of bounds by an opponent before both feet or any part of his body other than his hands touches the ground inbounds, it is a completed or intercepted pass. It is not necessary for the player to maintain control of the ball when he lands out of bounds.

If you can see his foot hit the turf and there is a sliver of green showing between his foot and the sideline white then it should’ve been overturned. That’s what slo mo and zoom and HD is good for.

I always heard that the body is part of the ground. He landed on his arm witch was in bounds at the time.

  8. I just bought 3 tickets for the Redskins vs Bears game. Was thinking about going to the Bills game but it is sold out. My first game in 5 years!  After being a season ticket holder for 26 years.  To be honest truly looking forward to the game!
