I sure AF hope not. Tress has earned every bit of field cred this team ever gave him. Our only consistently elite player on a team filled with clowns and is also one of our most tenured players. Who the heck is JD to even consider asking Mr. Way to have his number? Tress is the one who make jersey #5 significant. And now a friggin rookie who has never even played a down for us feels entitles to take his number?? FuggggThat. Reminds me of how  Haskins got to wear Joey T's semi-retired number  bc he was Snyders pet pick. (Yes, I know Haskins "asked" but I'm sure Joe felt pressured to give it up.)

Let JD give credibility to a new number, make it his new lucky one. In other words, let him "EARN" it. JMO, YMMV

To get Tress' number JD5 would have to buy all the Tress jerseys first right? Isn't that how the NFL does it?

I think the reach was the pick prior though I love the player a lot in Ruke. Newton was very likely highly rated on our board and for good reason.

They said they were looking into even moving up to get Newton.

I like what we've done so far.

    QB, check.

I'll never poo poo a 1st round trench guy selected in the 2nd round, Newton is good.

    Great slot CB.

Do everything at a high level TE.

And a guy who probably can play Tackle but at worse is a great guard option.

And there are some decent WRs left.  Troy, Roman, and BIG BOY Johnny Wilson left out there.

This is a great recap. Thank you!!!

Welcome to DC young man!!    Ya'll gonna remember this draft as the one we finally transformed this organization ON the field.   What an amazing time to be a Washington fan!!!!

    Dude WTF is your problem?

I love this site. I'm here daily. And yesterday was an all day event here at ES. That dude was the biggest buzz kill yesterday. I swear. So annoying.

Hmmm. Yet for some reason I would rather have Brady or Manning. They couldnt run at all. The qb has to throw the ball. I do not care about running around. Running around increases hits. Not a good option for a stick figure.

Has anyone ever told you that you're a buzz kill?

It will be fun to see what happens on this, as I loathe both those prospects, will be interesting to see if either hit, I'd imagine if one does, it's probably Mitchell because of the tools, but the profiles are really feast and famine types. I don't get why either would go crazy high, hoping we avoided both, at least Legette's off the board. If Carolina is wrong on Leggette, they become the Redskins of the 90s and aughts, missing on all WR prospects. Terrace Marshall, miss, Jonathan Mingo Miss, and now, Leggette. Ouch (full disclosure, I really, really liked Marshall).

Not interested in trading for Aiyuk. Would rather build with kiddos. I dont really think the Niners want to trade him either.

The 9ers have been seriously actively trying to trade him.

For the record, that was not the trade I was suggesting, not that it matters in the end as anything spurs discussion and your points are valid.

My example was a 3-team trade.

    Vegas gets #2

    New England gets #13, #77, 2025 1st, Aiden O'Connell

    Washington gets: #3, #44

I don't think Washington would move down 1 spot for #44. The would have to either give up #44 & 2026 1st, Adams or Crosby.

He worked with him for years. He was there with him. Whether he said it explicitly or he knows based on discussing QBs for YEARS with him, it’s not crazy.

It was a hypothetical anyway, I’m just speculating on the source.

Wouldn't be crazy that he has a great relationship with Shanny and respects his advice. I'm not surprised at all of they have had talks about this.
