  1. Of course not.  There are reasonable solutions and efforts moving forward, but imposing your (not actually YOUR, more Obama's/hard left) antiquated views on big gov't regulating certain aspects of free-trade when they are proven not to work is just not the right approach.  I consider myself right-center, but I find myself slipping more and more into the far right simply because im finding less liberals who can be centric.

I bet if you look very closely and hard you can find an answer to this question without having to ask it.

I feel you on the bolded part.  Personally I've had more conversations with liberals that say some crazy things, but I've seen publically some of the morons on both sides.  I find myself not saying anything at all anymore, and just making sure I take care of me and mine.

  2. That ref had to have something personal against that fighter, I counted at least 15 taps.

    That ref should be jailed.

seriously. i mean i can understand not seeing the first small taps, but then he starts smacking him to tap and then out. the ref didn't even look for a tap, he was only watching the submission, what an idiot.

  3. So me and my buddy are on a baseball road trip, and are gonna be away from our usual bar to watch 132. Anybody got a good bar in the District to watch it. We'll be staying in Fairfax, but driving won't be an issue.

well if you're gonna in be in fairfax anyways you can go to buffalo wing university, right by 123 and gmu

  4. I had forgotten that he's had almost a full year but I still think it will take at least 2 fights to truly change his mental make-up (and conditioning) as a fighter. The fear I'm talking about is the fear that any fighter has when the opening bell (or horn) sounds. I'm not saying he's "scared" of his opponents. I'm saying fear is definitely a factor for anyone.

Like I said before though... I'm not calling him a perpetual gasser but I do need to see him do anything positive whatsoever with a 2nd round before I buy into his "changed fighter" hype. He told the world he was training for multiple rounds in his camp for the Lesnar fight. We saw what happened there. I believe he trained for it but that was practice. Let's see him finish a 2nd round in a real fight scenario.

(He could deck JDS with a solid shot in the first round and prove nothing at all. Or, he could hurt JDS and show us that he's changed his mental make-up by not wasting so much energy trying to finish like he did with Brock.)

that's a completely fair request. he hasn't proved that anything has changed yet, i just figure that he doesn't have much longer to get the belt. if he's smart, not saying he is, he knows this and will make that change ASAP.

also, i dunno if i would call it fear when the bell sounds, probably more anxious or adrenaline. and you are right, he did say that he was training for multiple rounds for the lesnar fight...i think that was lip service then because he thought he would tko him in the 1st round. he knows now that even if he gets the ol' boy down, he can't just go all out and poop the bed.

  5. I'm not a believer that the time between one fight and another is enough for a hulking brute smasher to completely change as a fighter. Fear, adrenaline, and maybe even taking a hard shot are big contributors to panic and gas. I'm not predicting anything but I admit to being skeptical that Carwin will suddenly (in ONE training camp) become an endurance-based combatant.

but to be fair its been almost a year. i don't think he's changed his style, but a year is a long time to get that cardio up. i'm not sure what fear or hard shot you are talking about though. lesnar didn't get hardly any punches on carwin. in fact carwin was destroying him and then his body siezed up from lack of conditioning. i don't even think lesnar went in to punch carwin, he knew something was up. took carwin down, changed position, locked in the arm triangle, and out.

  6. Just trying to put pieces together. Fighters will change their regiments after learning hard lessons. This is a Carwin that weighs 20 pounds lighter, totally heartbroken from what happened against Lesnar. He more or less admitted that he changed his training and diet up because of that legendary gas out. That would drive a person insane, give them nightmares, I'd change my routine up as well. Like a madman.

On top of that, I'm anticipating Greg Jackson to have Shane attack JDS where he's at his weakest, which is in the wrestling aspect. If he is successful at getting JDS down, he'll have the lesson he learned against Brock in his mind. Pace, control, throw strikes here and there, gtfo. These guys are obviously awesome punchers, the chances of there being a first round KO are good. I just think we may see a new Shane Carwin on Saturday.

this is what i was thinking. because of what happened in the last fight, why in the world would carwin stick with the same strategy for training? of course he is going to train so that he doesn't have that happen again.

  7. I like Guida, the dude makes it work by being Cornholio-hyper. Any particular time that he's on top, he's either flailing around, fighting out of submission attempts with relative ease, trying to pass (though not very successful tonight - credit to Pettis) or posturing really high and throwing go-for-broke punches. Guida will bump his opponent's face with shoulders if the guy decides to try to hold on and get stood up. I like how Guida threw the shoulders faster and harder the more Pettis hung on. The ref considered all of that enough action, as did I. It may not be him destroying his opponent, but it's amazing how action-packed Guida's grappling matches are. Imagine rolling with that guy, I'd tap from lung pain. He just always keeps the tempo so high.

His striking has been getting better, even though it was all about setting up that takedown tonight. Still throws one-twos while bouncing around most of the time, but they look much better than they used to, and he landed that leg kick twice. Not much power on it, but I think Pettis was a little bit surprised Guida had anything for him on the feet, even if it was just a little bit. Almost landed the spinning back kick, kinda clipped Clay, and I fricken' love Pettis' head kicks. He threw one, I believe in the second, left leg, such great technique. He really rocks back swivels his body in to those. His head and torso go 90 degrees,. and right before he makes contact his foot is moving slightly downward. It hits from over the top, just awesome.

I had fun watching that one, the chess matches Clay has on the ground are interesting to me because he's all about tempo and pressure. Nothing devastating usually, so I can see why people aren't in to his style, but his grappling battles are a lot more interesting to me than the usual lay and prayer.

i can't help but want them to give guida a title shot, dude is crazy haha. and yes, i would tap out from lung collapse, that dude has WAY too much energy. i found myself in practice on monday bouncing around like guida....but i don't have the hair so it looked dumb.

  8. I'm really torn between Brock and Carwin. I like Carwin because the guy is just a humble, hard worker, and likes to fight. Brock is the only fighter, scratch that, the only person in sports who I've really liked that has ****y mouth (besides D. Green). I don't really care who wins, I just wanna see a hard hitting fight.
