  1. This was refreshing to see, something we should use every time Dallas comes to town.

Throwbacks ... I remember a time not too long ago when the home teams on the Sunday following Thanksgiving wore them. We hosted the Saints in 2003 at that point in time and we wore the throwbacks that were featured the year before.

Perhaps not the 75th anniversary uniforms but reach back into the 60's or 70's ... would be pretty cool.

    :2cents::2cents::2cents:

Just so you'll know, the 60's uniforms and the 75th anniverary uniforms are the same.

  2. I am a fan of the Burgundy and Gold, not the White, Red and Yellow, or the Dark Red and Yellow...I hate the slightly-less-than-manly yellow pants. White on white? In DC?...That should only be for republican conventions. A black, burgundy and gold uni would be nice. Black pants with a B&G top. A new logo might be nice too since there is so much discord between the old spear and the new cartoon logo.

Yeah, gotta put that black in there, that's really unique. Just like every other team is doing now a days. Cartoon logo? Well that so called "cartoon logo" has a lot of history here and it's all positive. Hell, might as well change the name as it seems to cause so much "discord" around the country .

If that pic is it then I'm sorry but it's just, damn ugly (no more lynch mob..please!)

But....as long as they win, who cares. I just find it kind of sad that we are becoming like every other team in the NFL. Same colored pants and jerseys, like every other team is doing lately and no more Redskins band in between plays, just a bunch of piped in music like every stadium does in the NFL.

We used to be traditional and not go with the flow, which I always thought distinguished us from the other teams and stadiums in the NFL. Now we are "generic", nothing distinguishes us and our stadium from the rest of the league.

    I guess that's what they call...progress.

  4. This doesn't make a damn bit of sense lol :rotflmao:

lol, you all act like I'm the only one who doesn't like the damn uniforms! Geez, I'm sorry if I hurt anybody or as it seems, everybody's feelings here. I just don't like the all burgundy and I feel like I'm standing in the middle of a lynch mob.

Well, if it makes everybody happy, I love the all burgundy uniforms. As a matter of fact, they should add all burgundy shoes to go along with it and shoe laces to boot.

    We are not doomed! :notworthy

  5. Our uniforms are part of our history....the look should never change. I'd be fine with wearing darks at home but beside that nothing should change

    News Flash!

We have gone through 3 major uniform changes since the late 1950's. The only part of history that the current uniforms are associated with is the 4 Superbowl appearances under Joe Gibbs (something to be very proud of by the way).

This is a new era and I hope that we can stop living in the past. Those teams, under the Cooke, Betheard and Gibbs regimes were a dynasty that will be near impossible to repeat. I'm okay with a change in uniform styles as long as we stay away from those college looking all white uniforms. And for those that keep wanting the color "black" in our uniforms, our team colors are "Burgundy and Gold", not "black, burgundy and gold". The "Burgundy and Gold" is more a part of our history and tradition than the style of our current uniforms....:point2sky

  6. You young whipper-snappers have to understand the Redskins of the 50s & 60s were really really bad teams. Add the Cardinals to the Lions and that would be just half as bad as the Redskins were. The Redskins defense then consisted of Sam Huff and ten other guys.

Vince Lombardi turned the Packers, who were a really really bad team, into a power-house. The Redskins hired Lombardi to make them Packer-like, inside and out. Fans WANTED the Redskins to be like the Packers. They wanted Packer players on the team. They wanted to LOOK like the Packers. At the time, the circle R helmet was well received. Lombardi put the team on the right track before he died.

I think a throwback helmet should use one of the Indian-heritage logos. Why pass up a chance to offend the anti-redskins crowd?

Your almost right about the Redskins being bad in the 60's. They traded Norm Snead to the Fecals for Sonny Jurgensen, got Bobby Mitchell in a trade with the Browns, got Charlie Taylor and Jerry Smith. They were an explosive offense in the air. They had great pass protection on the line but their ground game was mediocre at best. This team was known for it's quick scoring offense but it had no defense what so ever.

They brought Sam Huff here in a trade with the Giants back in 67 (?). He played 2 years and retired because the front offense kept drafting and trading for offensive players and ignoring his pleas to go after defensive talent. When Lombardi signed on with the Redskins, Sam came out of retirement and signed on as a player/coach. Lombardi drafted Larry Brown, restored the defense and the Redskins finished in 2nd place in the NFC East in Lombardi's first year.

Lombardi made the changes to the uni's as you stated. George Allen came and changed the helmet from gold w/R logo to the current style we have today. Our current style of uni's was instituted in Joe Gibbs first year here.

Damn, I can actually remember all of that! lol. Am I getting old or what? Wish they would stay with the Indian head on the helmut. Never did care for the big "R".

:helmet: Keep the helmut as is!
