  1. It's so sad to see this happen to a young person, when you get to a point where all you see is sadness and darkness it's hard to climb back out. Saw on Redditt that she's a self-described bi-sexual, I can't fathom how much pressure her father's public platform has put pressure on her.

I hope she gets the help she needs and can start healing both physically and mentally.

I would like to get either a model x or Rivian when I end up replacing my model y…. Leaning towards a model x. But I think the most I can justify spending on a car is around 50K, when I bought my model y it came in at 48k with fsd. The same car now is somewhere around 75k. The Volkswagen ev looks very compelling at around 40k, and has adaptive cruise control and steering assist.

We looked at the ID4, she liked it but wanted something that could seat seven. We have two kids that play sports, and she ends up carpooling other kids around once a week. That really limited the available models to really the X. She's really interested in the Rivian, she likes that it looks like a typical SUV, price wise it kind of works out to what we pay for the lease plus fuel. That being said that price point is at the very tippy top of our budget, and it would have to be a 10+ year car to make the math work the right way.

  3. We have 18 months left on my wife's leased car, we wanted wait out the rollout of new EVs from other manufacturers.

Prior to leasing we were looking fairly hard at the Tesla Y or X but decided to wait for additional competition in the SUV segment. Fast forward a year and my wife has flat out said she would not drive a Tesla; she wants to have zero association with Musk or any of his brands. It's an interesting turn as we got pretty close to pulling the trigger on one.

From the current on market EVs she's very interested in the Rivian R1S, or something similar. Either way, I'm excited to see the additional competition from other manufacturers especially the legacy manufacturers.

Yup.  And after 9/11, the military would take just about anyone.  Those that signed up and stuck it out are retiring now.  So it was an option available to most.

It was, and for the folks that stuck it out it was the cost to benefit for them. But that's what I meant when talking about an additional benefit for the work.

this is my personal opinion, based on experience, but the “additional benefit” is hardly worth it.

look I work over 40 hours a week with no additional benefit (technically - having a reputation for doing what it takes is its own benefit when you work for/with the right people) but I do so with the understanding that I generally work what is required to get the job done and generally that’s not over 40 hours a week. For me, my situation works out.

but the people that get additional benefits - that I’ve seen - it isn’t worth it. You only get one crack at this life and no one’s figured out how to get younger yet so… you want to slave away at a desk and miss time with the family? To each their own I suppose.

I can't agree with this more. Before I worked for the fed, I worked as the CFO of a small business. I worked 60 hours a week minimum, I made more but saw my family and friends less. I took three months of leave to help with my FIL when he had pancreatic cancer. I realized that working for someone else and missing time was stupid. You get one run and **** that if I'm killing myself for someone else.

and the reputation musk has bestowed on twitter is that working there means zero job security so…

I'm interested to see how this shakes out for Twitter.

It also depends on your future plans though.  I gladly spent 20 years killing myself at work so that when I hit 40, I don't have to work if I don't want.  And obviously I didn't get "additional benefits" except for an early retirement.

I agree with this, but early retirement with a defined pension is a definite additional benefit. That tradeoff is worth it to a lot of people.

I don’t necessarily disagree with the move costing him some talent, but I am a little amused by the idea that a boss telling his employees to agree to work hard is draconian. World we live in, bosses responsibility to adjust, but what are we becoming, Europe?

What's your definition of working hard? Is it working 40 hours and getting your projects completed, or is it expecting your employees to sleep in the office and work 60 hours a week? Because, It sounds to me like he wants people to commit to working over 40 hours without an additional benefit to the worker. That's ****ed up and people shouldn't sign on to that.

Also, in my experience peoples work improves when you treat them respectfully and don't offer threats. You offer threats you get the minimum to complete the project and stay employed.

I'm still unclear why Goodell, etc.  went along with this apparent cover up if they want him out of the league.

I would guess at that point they didn't want to push it more than they had to. It was easier to cover it up / not have a written report and hope the 24-hour news cycle moves beyond.

But we have reached the diminishing returns point sometime this year. It's become more costly (PR / non-stop investigations) to have him stay, and they have made the business decision it would be worth the fallout to have him gone.

So, by “commanders”, does that mean the players and coaches are also being sued, since they’re part of the commanders? I’m so confused on that….

sorry if that sounds stupid. I’m just struggling to understand fully what it means.

Naming the team is only the business. It's like suing Ford, you're not suing the guy on the line but the overall entity.

I had no idea you could file a lawsuit against a company and its owner for lying to the public about workplace culture. I think I’m missing something here lol…

From my understanding it's based on the fact they lied to protect their image and profits. The idea is that they defrauded the customers so they would spend money on the team and NFL.

An interesting twist would be if they were able to connect the lies to try to get public financing for the stadium. By saying everything is great and Dan knew nothing they were committing fraud to gain favorable conditions from the states to build a stadium.

Yeah, but it’s the Dan Snyder commanders that are being sued. It wouldn’t be the Jeff Bezos/Jay-Z/Matthew Mcc commanders. What would the risk be?

The org. is being sued directly, as a separate entity. The liability falls onto it, it's also why the named Snyder directly. It doesn't allow him to hide behind the team, they are both subject to the proceedings and can both be found liable separately.

If you buy the team before it is settled, you are accepting the risk level of the pending litigation.

I don't know anything about US civil law for obvious reasons, does this actually STOP the sale? It sounds really worrying from that perspective.

I’m not a lawyer, but I believe you can buy the assets as is or with some type of control in place to reduce your exposure.

Either way it’s not a good thing and I would believe complicate the sale but not necessarily impede it.

Can you accurately call it a Trump "hangover" when the party is still actively mainlining Trump?

I'm not sure they are, I think it's the loudest group in the room. This is purely anecdotal but the few Trump voters I know have washed their hands of him and have moved to Desantis.

They think Trump is actively damaging his message and want him to step aside for Florida man. I'm hoping they attack each other nonstop and cause a rift between the two parties.

Exactly right.  That's what the NFL is, and what NFL ownership should be.  A license to print money.

    Literally killed the golden goose.

Any popular pro sports team is a license to print money. Literally all you have to do, is not be a racist, or a raging asshole. You can be an asshole, just not a raging one. Hell, you can go get handys in a massage parlor. The bare minimum is just don't **** on your customers and all your employees all the time.

Dan couldn't do that and now we all get to watch Rome burn. As my wife would say, what a douche canoe.
