  1. "Sliver," with respect to a small fragment of glass or wood entering the skin. Sends chills down my spine just thinking about the word. It also affects me when someone uses it in reference to a small piece of pie or cake.

You shoulda seen me in my black '87 Subaru wagon.  It was a manual, and moved my hardside waterbed, took me to 3 of the 5 ACC basketball tourneys and home to VA 5 times.  Even took a head-on collision and kept me alive to tell the story.

It was the only car I've ever owned that wasn't a GM.  (My massage therapist learned to drive on it & her parents sold it to me for $600.)

The old Subies were a trip. I learned to drive manual transmission on one (family friend).

Can confirm. Whenever I'd pass jabronis in my volvos they'd seem to take it personally and immediately speed up to pass or start tailgating. 🤣

What did Momma say? There'd be days like this....or more money more problems.....or haters gonna hate? Something like that...

  3. This is interesting, but I offer an anecdotal counterpoint. My family has several cars and have had various makes and models over the years, including German, Japanese, and American makes. Often we have a mix in the stable at the same time.

My personal driving style does not change from one vehicle to another. However, I have found, more often than not, that other “aggressive drivers” on the road tend to try to exact some sort of revenge or personal vendetta toward any car that might be perceived as more “luxurious” or sporty such as the German makes. Whether that is cutting you off, tailgating, etc, certain people just take umbrage toward others driving to be what they perceive to be a snobbish make or model. That leads to being in some more dangerous situations when driving vehicles of that ilk.

  4. I began reading this forum sometime around the early 2000s, then joined roughly 8 years later in 2013 and made a grand total of 53 posts since then. Yet I visit this forum constantly, all day and all night. I don't know or interact with anybody, yet I feel like I know you all so well....that is rather odd, but oh well, so am I. I told my wife that I had no idea what was happening in the world for the two days it was down. I can't imagine it just going away in the blink of an eye. I hope that if it does happen in the future, there could be some warning and direction to link back up with everyone.

    I'm sure blackout rules apply

I think that was a poor choice of words on my part.  I agree that normal blackout rules would apply. It I don't think that usually affects Skins games. I really meant to ask if live NFL games would actually be broadcast on Sling's live stream of the channel, or if they'd be unavailable due to some restrictions due to NFL's agreements with other options such as Sunday Ticket etc.

  6. I see that Sling has added local channels like Fox for some markets that include the DMV. Living in Philly area I am always looking for better ways to watch the games. Firstly, does anyone know how Sling determines your "local" area? Wouldnit just be billing zip code or IP address?

Subsequenty, does anyone know if NFL games would be blacked out on local tv sling channels?

  7. I have an event today and will miss the game live. Do I set my DVR recording for cbs or nfl network? Or do they show it on both without one being blocked out? Twist is that I live in the Philly area so I don't know if that makes a difference in the rules. Another twist I can't record both channels either! Lol

  8. I don't get it. Do these guys really wear the same helmets every week? The NFL rule or suggestion doesn't make sense to me. The throwbacks would be the exact same style and performance as the current model.

I would think the regular helmets get so dinged up that they have a new one fairly often. It can't be the same one for 16 + games. It's hard for me to imagine a "Rudy-like" gold spray paint assembly line manned by Oompa Loompas refreshing the helmets every Saturday night.
