  1. EXPORTING RAYMOND

    96814e.jpg

...tells the hilarious journey of Phil Rosenthal, considered an expert in his country having created one of the most popular television shows of all time, who travels to a foreign land to help people who don't seem to want his help. When Rosenthal joins forces with Hollywood studio Sony Pictures Television to recreate "Everybody Loves Raymond" for Russian TV audiences as "Everybody Loves Kostya," he finds himself lost in Moscow, lost in his mission, lost in translation. Rosenthal tries to connect with his Russian colleagues but runs into unique characters and situations that conspire to drive him insane. The movie is a true international adventure, a genuine, "fish out of water" comedy that could only exist in real life.

Very good. It was interesting to see all the cultural obstacles that had to be hashed out in order to get the show to translate. I'm not even a huge fan of the show but I actually starting watching by accident and couldn't stop. Interesting documentary.

  2. Drive. Excellent flick.

Ryan Gosling stars as a Los Angeles wheelman for hire, stunt driving for movie productions by day and steering getaway vehicles for armed heists by night. Though a loner by nature, Driver can't help falling in love with his beautiful neighbor Irene (Carey Mulligan), a vulnerable young mother dragged into a dangerous underworld by the return of her ex-convict husband Standard (Oscar Isaac). After a heist intended to pay off Standard's protection money spins unpredictably out of control, Driver finds himself driving defense for the girl he loves, tailgated by a syndicate of deadly serious criminals. But when he realizes that the gangsters are after more than the bag of cash in his trunk-that they're coming straight for Irene and her son-Driver is forced to shift gears and go on offense.

  3. An amazing volley. Just one question though, is there a member from the red and yellow team playing on the pink team's side? It sure looks that way.

That's probably the "Libero" position. Each team has the option to play one designated defensive player. There's specific rules for them. Can only play back row, not allowed to serve or block, among others. The different jersey color is to distinguish them from their teammates due to the specific rules for that position. :)

It would be enough if she was tagging a mutant monkey astronaut with her fist but wielding a great white shark like it's a Louisville Slugger while standing in a dinosaur's mouth, a dinosaur that is being attacked by a robot all during a UFO invasion... not too shabby. Hang on, is that a mushroom cloud behind them? Dang.
