  1. So last night I got an email from the Redskins offering me to purchase additional seats that are near me....

Great post S&S. Posts like this are what keep me coming back to ES to gain insight from STH's that are as passionate as I am.

I have two seats in 236 Row 4 and would love to do a straight upgrade to the two in front of you, S&S but unfortunately it is never that simple with this ticket office. I am torn between wanting to move closer down to the action and wanting to keep my current sight-lines (which I think are the best in the entire stadium) and the fact that the fans in front of me remain seated for the majority of the game unlike the 100 level sideline sections. I also want to remain in my current price tier which I believe is the lowest for non-obstructed view seats in the lower level.

  2. Yep, cause the word was they would wear them for the Panthers and the Giants. Wonder why they changed up? You think they would have worn them in one prime time game.

Well, considering the Redskins recent record in primetime games and their all time record wearing throwback jerseys I think they made the right choice. In fact, I can't seem to ever recall the Skins winning a game while wearing any kind of throwback jerseys. The only primetime game the Skins have won in the past 5 years was the Sunday Night season opener against Dallas in 2010.

  3. Been said many times that they will wear them against the Giants on Monday Night.

According to Lavarleap56 we are not wearing the throwbacks against the Giants. He is hearing burgundy tops/white pants for the G-Men and possibly the throwbacks for the Ravens game.

  4. If you guys want to pick what the team wears on Sunday, cut Danny a check for 2 billion and you will have some input into it. Until then, we will be subject to the whims of the coaches, players, Danny, and Bruce Allen.

The white on white look was a player requested lucky charm during the Gibbs years. The burgundy on burgundy is a painful reminder of brutal losses during the Zorn era. We are not likely to see either combo for years to come.

Bruce Allen loves the gold pants; but clearly understands fans' affinity for the Burgundy/White combos due to the success the team enjoyed with them during the first Gibbs era.

I would say we will see a heavy rotation of the burgundy tops and gold pants combo both at FedEx and against teams that choose to wear their whites at home (like the Cowboys always do) as long as Bruce Allen is with the team. We will likely see both of the classic burgundy pants/white tops combo and the white pants/burgundy tops combo for at least one game per year each.

Since Bruce seems to like the gold pants, I would say that we will see the white tops/gold pants combo on the road more often than white tops/burgundy pants combo. Remember, each team is allowed to wear their alternate/throwback uniform for 2 games per season. We will be wearing these again for the Monday Night Game against the Giants. The only way I can see these traditions changing while Bruce is around is if the team goes on some incredible winning streak wearing a certain color combo like they did with the white on white in 2005.

I also think we will see a new throwback/alternate jersey each season from now on as it gives Nike and the Skins more opportunities to make money. The days of seeing the Skins wear just 2 uniform combos for home and away are long gone. Apparel manufacturers have realized what an incredible amount of money can be made by releasing new jerseys. In fact, most European soccer teams now come out with a different home jersey EVERY SINGLE YEAR to maximize retail profits. Since Nike is a huge sponsor of European soccer, I expect them to follow a similar model with NFL jerseys. Get ready for new throwbacks every year!

  5. If I were mistakenly given LL STs when I knew I had been assigned uppers, I'd keep mum about it. I'd then go to the first preseason game to see if the tix were good. I'd enter an hour before kickoff to assure plenty of time to settle the problem with a TO agent if need be.

If the bar codes on your LL tix allow you to enter the stadium, I'd say its more than likely the seats are your's for the season. Again, if there is problem at the seats, go to the TO. They might even assign you LL STs for your inconvienence.

IMO it'd be worth a try bc the worst that could happen is they'd have to print your actual assigned tix for the 400 level.

The guy in the OP was messing around, trying to "take our minds off the misprints."

  6. I got my e-mail this morning too. I need a big favor from you guys. How do I get to Green B3 lot from Springfield? I'm not familiar with MD. I usually took exit 16 to Arena Drive, then 2nd right straight to Gray lot. This year I was up-graded to B3, I'm looking at the map but so confused. Please help me. Thanks before hand guys.

You simply take the Morgan Blvd. entrance into the Stadium instead of Arena Drive. You can take exit 13 or 15A off 95 to get there. The parking attendants will direct you to the Green B3 lot on your left.

Morgan Blvd. is the least used entrance/exit from the stadium so you should have a pretty smooth time getting in and out in addition to parking closer to the stadium.

  7. Correct, I had 2 tickets in the past and had parking, then bought a 3rd seat and still had parking... you need more than 4 to be able to buy a 2nd pass

Ah, understood. Thanks for the clarification fellas.

Edit: I do have a friend that has 2 Orange passes for every game along with his 4 zone A club seats, but I imagine the 2nd parking pass was a courtesy given to premium seat holders.

  8. FYI the threshold of tickets per parking pass is 4.

You can only get 1 parking pass for every 4 tickets. Which sucks, I need a green parking pass if anyone knows someone selling them (other than the postings on craigslist for 600$)

Perhaps I am misunderstanding your post, but I have had 2 tickets since FedEx opened and have received a regular Green Parking Pass for every game, every year.

  9. I'm also hoping that they've been working on a better exit strategy for the post-game rush. Not too familiar with the parking lots, as I normally park in my special spot off-site, but would that line of thinking be consistent with these changes?

I think anyone who was present will tell you there was a big difference in the postgame traffic after the 12/30/07 Cowboys game (91,000 people there) versus the 12/12/10 Bucs game (66,000). Traffic and stadium access has been slowly improving over the past few years. Hopefully the reduction in stadium capacity will help too.

  10. I e-mailed with the ticket office about a month ago about upgrades and getting a parking pass added to my account and here is what they had to say:

"All of our season ticket holders who pay in full by April 1 or meet the established payment plan of March 1, April 1 and May 1 will be considered for an upgrade over season ticket holders who paid otherwise. According to your account you currently have not purchased a parking pass. Your only option at the moment for parking is to purchase a Gray lot parking pass for $350 or a reserved parking space for $1000. Once you have a Gray lot parking pass you will be eligible (based on availability) to upgrade to our Green B3 lot."

and then I asked how I could get upgraded to the Green Lot and the answer was:

"We can add a Gray parking pass to your account and create a new invoice which you can view on your redskins account. However, our parking is also based on availability and seniority as a season ticket holder. Due to high renewal rates we cannot guarantee that you will be upgraded to the Green B3 lot. If you are selected for an upgrade you will be notified around late May or early June. If you are upgraded to the Green B3 lot then you will have the opportunity (based on availability) to upgrade to our Green lot. "

I'm not sure what the reserved parking is for $1,000, but it seems the only option is to get Gray, then hope for Green B3 and then regular Green... I would say that is becoming the normal way to go through the parking cycle now. If they lowered the price for the Gray lot a bit below the cost for the Green lot, they may actually be able to sell some of these Gray passes.

With regards to the "Green B3" parking, that is part of an attempt by the ticket office to divert traffic away from the ridiculously overused Redskins Rd. and Arena Drive entrances to the ridiculously underused Morgan Blvd. entrance.

Regarding enforcement of the "Green B3" parking, I noticed that for the lower demand games (Cardinals, Niners, Vikings) last year the parking staff were letting people with "Green B3" passes park in any Green lot. However for the "high demand" games (NFC East, Jets, Pats) it was much different. The parking lot attendants were strict about making people with "Green B3" passes that tried to enter thru Redskins Rd. or Arena Drive do a u-turn and have to circle around the entire stadium to get to the Morgan Blvd. entrance.

Biggest problem with the Green B3 parking IMHO is that it's on the complete opposite side of the stadium from the world famous ES tailgate! :silly:

    ---------- Post added April-11th-2012 at 12:56 PM ----------

I've heard the B3 lot is pretty sweet to get out of after the game, I believe a back road lets you out of there?? I use my green to park near the ES Tailgate though.

That is 100% correct. If you hate the traffic leaving games, enter the lots using the Morgan Blvd entrance!

Anyone who complains about the traffic simply doesn't know about Morgan Blvd.

  11. I agree with you, except i don't think it'll take until 2027. It'll take until there is a buyer that is willing to buyout the remainder of the lease. DC wanted to, but buying out half of the lease (15 years worth) is just too much. I bet when we get down to less than 10 years left someone will be willing to do it.

I don't think the stadium is nearly as bad as everyone else seems to. Most of the complaints i hear are either caused by unrealistic expectations, blown out of proportion and are made by people who don't actually go to the stadium on a regular basis and just listen to the media, or would magically go away if the team wasn't as bad as it's been.

    :point2sky

This may have been the most truthful rebuttal to the people who whine about FedEx that I have ever read. Great post.

  12. You can always tell in threads who has season tickets and who does not when the begging for a new stadium starts. Anyone with season tickets now wants no part of a new stadium. PSL's will price many out if it ever happens.

You guys have nothing to worry about. The continued upgrades to FedEx and what I have heard from my friend at Clark Construction indicate that the Skins will be there for the long haul.

Would Danny like to build a Super Bowl hosting stadium inside DC? Of course, but is is simply not economically feasible for him to do so.

Trust me when I say the Skins will be at FedEx at least until their lease expires in 2027.

  13. I think attendance for pro sports is down across the board with the state of the economy.

I also think we could see a similar trend occur in the NFL that has happened with NASCAR. A period of record growth followed by decreasing attendance. Bristol Motor Speedway sold out ever single race between August 1982 and March of 2010, with a capacity of 160,000.

    http://www2.tricities.com/sports/2010/mar/22/ticket_sellout_streak_rolls_to_an_end_at_bristol_m-ar-235826/

Would Danny ever let the Skins "sellout streak" come to an end?

  14. DC has always been an "event driven" sports town. Look at the sold out Nats games last season when Strasburg pitched, the sold out Man U/Barcelona game, and the hundreds of thousands of people that went to the U.S. Open at Congressional.

DC fans also love to see a winner. Just look at the Caps sellout streak that coincides with 4 years of regular season success. If the Skins start posting 10 win seasons and playoff appearances, Redskins season tickets will once again be the most desirable in Washington sports.

  15. Bruno recently interviewed fans on Redskin fashion. Here are some of his quotes:

"How about the white jerseys: keep them in the ghetto or train to Auschwitz?"

"How about Jim Zorn: do you wish him a benign tumor or a malignant tumor?"

(re: white on white combo) "You had 9/11 where you had a massive attack on America and then you have this, its like a mini-9/11."

"Look at the evil people in the world: Jason Campbell, Saddam Hussein, Hitler, Stalin. What do they all have in common? Mustaches!"

"Is it a coincidence that all the good people have long hair? Like Troy Polamalu, Jesus, and like hippies and you know Rod Stewart."

"Do you think if the Redskins wore the burgundy tops and white pants in the 1930's World War II would have even happened?"

  16. [Let's all sing in unison]

"Hail To the Washington Orderlies ..

    Hail to the team ..

    They're emptying bedpans..

And Handing Out Meds for Free."

    SHEESH!!

It's been what .. five years now of this white-on-white nonsense! Are they ever going to give up their fascination of these ugly ass W-O-W unis? Are they EVER going to wear something BURGUNDY or GOLD other than the outlines of the numbers AGAIN?!!

What are you talking about? The all white unis look cash money and the players love them. That's why you won't see the change. I like that we keep the burgundy tops for crucial away games only.
