  1. If Dan can fire Vinny then he can fire Bruce. Please Dan just do it.

Daniel doesn't know how to hire a GM, so firing Bruce will probably accomplish little--lest Dan actually get lucky. I'm convinced now more than ever that the owner sets the tone for the overall state of a franchise.

Actually, Vinny "resigned".  Mike Jones was on the radio the other day, he gave less than a 5% chance Bruce hires a gm...dark times ahead indeed

  2. Some complaints I had during the offseason that I was taken to task for:

o Bruce Allen should have hired a GM

o Jay Gruden wasn't my first choice (although I am giving him benefit of the doubt and with holding judgement)

o Not hiring an experienced Offensive coordinator to take some of the workload off the plate of a 1st time HC

o Not hiring a QB coach to take some of the workload off a 1st time HC

o Should have upgraded the Defensive coordinator

o The already mentioned FA/draft failures

o Some of the consequences of the above mistakes are obvious and have played out on the field but some more subtle are:

-Inability of GM to reign in the loose lips of the HC/QB in the media. I believe a competent GM addresses these issues amicably/semi-amicably behind closed doors

-Inability to reign in the "cats dry sniyching" behind the scenes

Spot on post.  So many questionable red flags I was willing to hold judgement on, but theyre starting to show up again.  Bruce just cannot bargain bin hunt or sign mid level free agents, they often fizzle out and end up being liabilities i.e. Lauvao and Clark.

    Keeping Haslett? FAIL

No experienced QB coach, instead rely on a 1st year HC and 27 year old OC? FAIL

I'm starting to see this trend on extremeskins of people asking to upgrade the o-line and defense this offseason as "priorities"....but wait, I thought those were major issues going into the last offseason?!? People have done too much analyzing of the QB position, blatantly ignoring that fact we create such a poor support system for them to win in.  They really thought we "fixed" the o-line by signing Lauvao and shuffling around some players LOL.

First 9 games of the last 2 years, we've given up 21+ pts in 17 out of 18 possible games.  NFL teams win% giving up 21+ ppg is below 45% yet the only thing people want to talk about is the QB position.

  3. Flexibility for what? KD is not coming here, neither is Lebron, Bosh, Wade, Melo etc. They did the right thing and people are still upset.

Uhhh the PF/C free agent market that sets up the next 2 years.  Its not all bout KD and Lebron.

Whatever, casual fans will be happy.  In other news

Soon after Marcin Gortat re-signed for five years and $60 million with the Wizards, Trevor Ariza -- in a somewhat surprising move -- was on the phone with the front office to discuss details on what could turn into a deal late Tuesday, several people with knowledge of the situation told CSN Washington.

Ariza, who made $7.7 million last season, watched the USA vs. Belgium game in the World Cup at a Ritz-Carlton hotel in Marina del Rey, Calif., near the offices of his agent Rob Pelinka, and then listened to the pitch from Wizards coach Randy Wittman and director of player development Ed Tapscott.

Wittman had flown to Poland over the weekend with senior vice president Tommy Sheppard to secure Gortat and then traveled with Tapscott for Ariza.

The pitch to Ariza went something like this: Ariza has played for six teams and needs to find some place to call home; with John Wall as his point guard he had a career-best season; and Gortat's decision to stay signals they're committing to win long-term.

  4. I wouldn't put too much stock in comments from a roster thats went 4-28 without Wall.  These guys are very comfortably paid and have low expectations set upon them, of course they will have the time to go to bat for Wittman.  IMo, He's a motivator but terrible with X's and O's.

I predict by midseason, there will be fans calling for his job once the wizards fail to A) Win on the road and B )Beat the teams they're supposed to beat.  They have yet to prove they can do these 2 things consistently

  5. So we're 23-18 since Wall came back, exactly half a season with him. 56% with him projects to 46 - 38 over a whole year. If he's healthy, he'll be better next season even if he doesn't add anything to his game this summer just from not having to work himself back into shape mid season. Oak is going to be back, Ariza probably will be, Martell hopefully will be. As long as we don't suffer any major and prolonged injuries to Wall or Oak, I think we'll come close to 50 wins. If we get mostly healthy years from those two plus Nene, Beal, Webster, and Ariza, we can win 50+ next year.

Wizards and expectations do not go well together. I still have my skepticism going forward. Any decent team should win most games at home, but if you cant win on the road in the NBA consistently, then your just a pretender IMO. Judging by the draft slot they will most likely get, a high impact rookie is a long shot at this point and they dont really have cap room to add anyone. The guard depth is still piss poor. Basically the same team next year without the advantage of playing 'meaningless games' since they started off so poorly.

This is the Washington wizards we're talking about. No 50 wins season since the '70s and a high of 45 wins recently. LOL

  6. I'm a Wall stan and last night was great especially after the criticism and hell he caught from the fanbase, but I hope when this fairy tale month is over, the front office wont puss out and aim for mediocrity again. Wall and Beal are great but they need more than that to contend for even a top 4 seed. The roster talent is bare considering the older guys that having been producing like okafor and ariza arent part of the long term plans.

At this point, Im already expecting EG to draft a project/bum again considering where theyre expected to draft, rarely has he made me a believer in his late drafting skills so where is the help coming from?

  7. I hate Ernie Grunfeld so, so much...

Watching commercials of Ricky Rubio and seeing Harden do what he does and knowing the Wiz should have both of these players on there team is mind blowing. What an idiot.

The NBA rewards bad teams. The wizards had the 5th pick in 09, 1st pick in 2010, 6th in 2011, 3rd recently. Watching them waste assets like these makes me salty, we shouldve have already completed the rebuild by now yet we have nothing to show for it

The fact of the matter is Wall has failed thus far. He's not getting it done. If he was a franchise player, the franchise would be heading in the right direction and showing some sort of progress. We've actually gotten worse each year since we drafted him. If he was going to be a franchise PG like these other PGs, we should have seen some significant uptick in our wins just from adding him alone.

This post is laughable. Wall needs shooters and guys who finish, around him yet the front office has switched out every position for as long as hes been here with no sense of consistency

  8. Steve Mcqueen, hate all you want on Harden, but odds are he will be the starting 2 guard for Team USA in 2016. I dont see any player on this roster that can even make an allstar game. And please, thinking our franchise will be smart enough to dump Nenes contract when he is over 30 years old is a pipe dream. That contract is a albatross and proves this front office has NO definite plan.

The Wizards also set aside money for the summer of 2014, when Wall, a former No. 1 pick, Kevin Seraphin, Jordan Crawford and Trevor Booker will become restricted free agents. Several big name talents — LeBron James, Rudy Gay, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Bosh, among others — also could enter the open market.

Haha, fantastic. Looking forward to resigning all the guys who have led us to 2-13 starts in back to back seasons. Throw in the big name free agents to bait the casual fan like they even have a shot at those guys

  9. Say the Wizards could have taken Kawli Leonard instead of Vesely and pulled the trigger on this trade. Wall, Harden, Leonard, Seraphin, Nene is a legit lineup with youth, talent, and a bonafide closer in Harden. The NBA rewards bad teams and the wiz have been in the lottery 4 straight years with barely anything to show for it lol

3 wins with a almost maxed cap lol, where they do that at

    ---------- Post added December-12th-2012 at 09:14 AM ----------

Anyone trying to justify not making that trade for the sake of future cap room is completely lost. Only thing this fanbase was looking to was the ability to clear the mess and create room for big contracts, but after seeing what this front office does with cap flexibility, I see no hope smh
