  1. From the ES Tailgate we actually lost 2 to Covid

    Capt Kaos

Mike Hernick (I do not think Mike posted here but he ran Redskinsheads and tailgated with ES.  He too was family)

From the board we also lost Doc Sandy not to Covid but other health issues.

  2. I am still at a loss for words.  The shock from the news this morning just crushed me.  Jon was amazing.  He helped me with so many projects through the years.  Especially Chief Z.  He had a heart of gold and loved everyone of us.  He would cheer you up after a loss and make you laugh or we would cheer together after a big win.  His daughter even did a school essay on the ES Tailgate.  Please keep his family and friends in your prayers.

@Huly, sorry you had to say goodbye to July. I lost my favorite dog (Silvio, the bottom pug in my avatar) one year ago yesterday, just a few weeks shy of his 15th birthday. I can't believe it's been a year.

Yeah it destroyed me for awhile.  I am still struggling as I bottle fed him and had him 16 years.  I had to learn a new normal as he was my shadow.

I had a titre done on the other vaccines, so familiar with them. I will discuss this, thanks. I am under the impression that it's a law for rabies vaccination. It will be one less thing because they will do blood tests for heartworm.

Most States allow a Medical Exemption for Rabies.  You Vet can send in the paperwork.

  5. The last few years have been crazy for us.  We lost our Basset hound Sadie, lost my cat Nala, adopted a Redbone Coonhound mix names Scarlett, then lost Gibbs.  We honestly think Gibbs passed away from a broken heart.  He never recovered from Sadie and even Scarlett was not enough for him.  Then we adopted Rosie another Redbone Coonhound mix and last December i pulled Klaus a kitten out of the sewer storm drain.  I still have both Chihuahuas BG & Sonny and my cat Huly is now 18 but doing good but our fur family has definitely changed.  I miss my Bassets but love my RBCHs.

Here are some updated photos of the crazy crew!

  6. Funny Rosie photo from her 1 year old photo shoot.  My best friend is the photographer.  The other photo is Rosie's puppy photo.  Ellen won the bronze medal is a large well known international photography competition with it.

Bitter Apple, no carpet anywhere near the crate, not near a wall. You'll have to wear him out before you go anywhere. Find out what to do about separation anxiety on the web. You might have to work up with short times away with treats for good behavior.

He knows he did something wrong, his little face says it all. He can't help himself.

Bach Rescue Remedy is the best for SA!

A crate will be your best friend!  My two coonhounds love their crate.  It is like their own room.  Warm blanket, toy or bone and they are good to go

Dang Huly, I didn't know Gibbs passed away - my sympathies.

As soon as I saw you had posted in this thread, my first thought was I bet it's a pic of that one-eyed cat. :)

Yeah I honestly think Gibbs passed from a broken heart.  He never recovered from the loss of Sadie.  We adopted Scarlett trying to help Gibbs but he honestly raised her then checked out.  :(  Rosie fell in our lap the next day.  We had been looking to rescue another Redbone Coonhound pup for Scarlett and Rosie was dropped in MD from Dogs In Danger out of AL.  \

Huly is doing awesome!  He will meet his new little brother Klaus this weekend.  We had Klaus on quarantine for a week so this could be interesting so please pray for me.

  10. I have friends less than a mile away that only got power back last night.  There is no way to leave their homes without being evacuated by the national guard.  I would post pictures and such but all the ones from Weather.com and CNN are all the ones within a mile. It didn't help that we had a really large moon earlier in the week that caused localized flooding downtown (even when it wasn't raining).

**and it's the damned snakes that are getting to me.  I have flood planes in my back yard.  Nowhere for the snakes to go but up.  Last thing I need is for a poisonous one to nab one of my dogs.

Not sure this will help with all the rain and water but when we lived in Charleston we would put lye down and they do not like it.

It's unbelievable how there was a spout of storms aimed right at SC for days straight. Like god dropped the hose on its handle and it kept spraying in to one area. If there's a way to go back and watch that entire timeline on radar, I'd like to see it. I was saying "enough already!" a while before it ended.

Grass around here was dying beforehand. Was dry as heck for a long time. Now it's dark green and needs a mowing, lol.

I have been keeping to tracks of all my friends and family in Charleston.  So sad!

  11. Pssst...the bay is coastline.  But I imagine if it went up the Bay it would cause a lot of damage due to the raised water levels from the storm surge (especially if it hits at high tide), which could be costly since there are a lot of high value properties around the bay.

LOL I am talking bay vs Ocean LOL

  12. Could put a hurting on my weekend HS reunion in DC.

Anyone know when do they announce HS football game cancellations in the DC area?

Most HS football games have been moved to today due to the other weather system coming in tomorrow.

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- NFL officials have talked with members of the Washington Redskins about the possibility of having to re-schedule this Sunday's game due to potential impacts by Hurricane Joaquin.

    http://www.wusa9.com/story/sports/nfl/redskins/2015/09/30/nfl-monitoring-hurricane-joaquin-redskins-game/73109952/

    I figured this was coming.

Latest NHC track has it coming up the bay, going over DC as a tropical storm

    235910W5_NL_sm.gif

I am not sure how a hurricane would do going up the bay.  I can see that being more damage than hitting a coastline and going into land.

Cat 3 now with winds of 115

I am hearing it might go up to a CAT 4 before landfall.  Hugo was a Cat4-5 at landfall and the destruction was something I will never forget.

  13. Ok Pez and I are addicted to Son's of Anarchy, Falling Skies, Dexter (but this season is lack luster), and we just finished Game of Thrones S3 last night.  WOW great show no wonder everyone told us to watch it.

We are getting ready to catch up on the White Queen ( supposedly similar to Game of Thrones)

Our other shows we watch but not as addicted is

    Under the Bridge

    Elementary

    CSI

Hawaii 5 O (we need to catch up on this one too)

    Face Off

    Hell's Kitchen/ Masterchef

    The Dome

Are we missing any other good series?

  15. Good point, Huly. And a lot of those friendships were greatly strengthened through the ES Tailgate, where members had the opportunity to meet in person. I think in a lot of ways, the ES tailgate was a glue for many members. I think it has definitely added a sense of intimacy that we wouldn't have had otherwise.

I don't know much about the earlier ES tailgates though. If you want to give me a brief synopsis, I'll throw it in there. :)

Actually the ES Tailgate was born from friendships made here on the board. We liked each other so much online we wanted to meet and hang out more. We all wanted a place where we could go to have a good time and enjoy fellow Redskins fans. The ES Tailgate was a collaboration of everyone here. Tarhog just helped Pez and I put a dream into a reality. I can create a brief history of it but without experiencing it words could not explain the friendships you will create and the atmosphere itself.

MTH you have been invited and begged to come join but we are just not good enough for you! :silly:

  16. There isn't a mod/staff member who hasn't disappointed me or pissed me off at least once :)

    DH

You forgot to add "or regular ES member". All of us have ticked you off at least once. Sometimes we intentionally do it just to watch the fall out. ;)

Wow this was a good read and it brought back a lot of memories and it makes me feel old. I miss y'all! We need to have a game/ tailgate where all of y'all get together again (staff old and new).

The part that needs to be added MTH is that the members of this board are closer than most other boards. We consider each other family and honestly I have made some amazing friendships all due to ES. Not a lot of people understand that as it does not happen on other message boards.
