Off-season and upcoming season questions for the Redskins

My anticipation for the start of the season seems to last forever.  Here are five key questions that I look forward to getting answered over the next four months and for the season.  What questions do you have?

Off-season questions

1. Has Matt Jones’ ball security sufficiently improved?

2. Who is the back-up center (in case Lichtensteiger, who missed 11 games last season needs to be replaced)?

3. How well are the defensive line and safeties playing?

4. Who are the best special teams performers?  Which rookies and UDFAs performed well enough to earn a roster spot?

5. How healthy are the expected key contributors?  Are they in game shape for the season opener?

Regular season questions

1. Will the Redskins get better results when playing teams with winning records?

  • Last year the Redskins went 0-4.  Their closest loss was by two touchdowns to the Jets; they had two 17 point losses, one each to the Packers and Patriots; they lost by four touchdowns to the Panthers.  In 2016, the Redskins will play six teams who had winning records this past season.

2. By how much did Washington's rushing attack improve?

  • They were 30th last season – 3.7 yards per attempt)

3. By how much did Washington's rushing defense improve?

  • They were 31st last season -- 4.8 yards per attempt)

4. What expectations should Redskins fans have for the playoffs?

5. What great adjustments have Scot McCloughan and Jay Gruden made since the draft?
