MP3 players

Destino

Recommended Posts

I would like an MP3 player for running and otherwise working out. Able to hold a couple hours of music, doesn’t skip, and small enough to not annoy me would be the only requirements I can think of. The cheaper the better but I’m cool with spending a bit more for more quality.

Recommendations?

1) Do you plan on using online music stores, or just ripping your CDs/downloading MP3s from p2p sites?

2) Since you have such limited interest, do you need a screen?

3) Does it need to have things like an FM Radio?

4) Do you have a peculiar aversion to Apple products?

1 - Most likely on-line music sites. I really don't mind paying for the higher quality service and product.

2 - As long as the thing is easy to use I don't need any one feature.

3 - FM would be nice, but I'd be willing to look at those without.

4 - lol no. I own an IPod but it's fairly large and heavy and I'm not sure how well a spinning hard drive will hold strapped to my arm for a run.

iRiver IFP-795 (512M) or IFP-799 (1GB) are both excellent units according to the reviews. I have an older iRiver IFP-180 which has been great. Durable, excellent sound with a pair of sony fontopia ear plugs. Going to get the 799 soon. Works on single AA battery (good if you have digital camera that uses rechargable AA's, you can use them for this too).

If you go iRiver, I'd get the sports arm band.

I considered the iPod, but all of my files are already wma's and I like the FM and screen (to see what's playing). This is how I listen to CD's I purchase so the screen is important to me.
