EvilMonkeyBoy
http://onefed.com/media/NintendoON.wmv http://www.gamerlounge.com/demo_news.php?grab=144 Nintendo Revolution will have four 2.5Ghz IBM G5 cores 12 | May Rumors are stating that the console will boast four 2.5Ghz IBM G5 Custom cores, with 128KB of level 1 cache and a 512KB shared level 2 cache, while the graphics will be powered by a dual core ATI RN520 chipset, with 16MB of on-board eDRAM for the frame buffer. MoSys previously provided the 1T-SRAM memory technology used by NEC for the GameCube's memory, and speaking in a live conference call following the announcement of the firm's Q1 earnings, CEO and CFO Mark Voll said that it would again be fulfilling this role for Revolution. "During the quarter we announced that NEC Electronics will now use our 1T-SRAM embedded memory technologies on their advanced 90nm process, and that the initial designs to be incorporated in SoCs will be used in Nintendo's next-generation game console, codenamed Revolution," he said. The most interesting part came next, however, when Voll commented that: "We are excited to be a participating member of the Nintendo team once again as Nintendo will roll out its successor game console to the GameCube in mid-2006." dreamingwolf
nintendo has always had the better specs, but always the games always seem to suck. I let a buddys rent some of the rooms in my house for him and his family till he moved and we had xbox and nintendo game cube side by side(cube was for his kid). I was unimpressed, he was an xbox loyalist and he even said the cube was a more powerfull console. Every title they played just seemed real colorfull to me, and the only one I played was the college football game and that sucked. maybe I just never played the "cool" nintendo games, but I still look at them as a kindergarden game system. As a major Nintendo fan this makes me very happy especially after hearing that wireless will be built in and they are testing online with DS. (please, someone tell me that game sucks:cool: )
Mr. S
nintendo always has the decent childish games, and the group games. I was playing a lot of mario kart for the gamecube, and though its a good game, its just not like something youd find for xbox or ps2. but yeh, Nintendo has usually boasted a better system tech wise, they just never translate that well for games. The Slammer
There is no arguing with Zelda, Mario and Metroid. Those games alone are worth the price of admission.
Warhead36
All those specs are nice and dandy but it ain't **** without good games. I still think Playstation 3 will own all the next gen consoles.

Unlike Microsoft, Nintendo actually makes a profit on its console. The Revolution sounds really intriguing. For one thing, it's wi-fi out of the box, meaning it can wirelessly connect to the net (i.e a router). Secondly, it's controller is rumored to have gyroscopes in it (you can tilt and move the controller for increased functionality). Thirdly, it will be backward compatible (unlike xbox 360). Its rumored size is about 3 dvd cases stacked on top of one another. The controllers will also be wireless (I think Microsoft stole this idea as Nintendo was the first to market the wireless controller for the gamecube). Oh, Nintendo will offer free internet play for the revolution.

QBkilla56
Thats great. I'll wait for a price drop and when it actually has a good library of games. (meaning when its 3rd or 4th year) but i might pick it up when zelda comes out. Nintendo and their notorious droughts are just fine and dandy. My cube hasn't been touched after Resident Evil 4 and well i'm accustomed to it now. Zelda will be my last cube game and then it goes into the closet. My ps2 and xbox on the other hand are great and can't wait for xbox 360 and ps3.

Oh, Nintendo will offer free internet play for the revolution. microsoft stole the idea from nintendo huh.....guess what, they made wireless controllers for the sega genesis, and microsfot was the first to announce that they are coming standard with there new console....all the gamecube has going for it is zelda and mario...dont say metroid, cause the new one didnt do anything when released at the same time as gta and halo2...and the reason microsoft lost money was because they had put so much into the xbox, which they learned from and will make a profit off of 360, and do u actually think that money is an issue to them? cause i can assure you its not.....and as for online play, its not goin to be that great with nintendo, as there president said, "people arent looking to play games online"...that was an a issue of EGM i recieved a few months ago....and from what i read, it will most likely be backwards compatible...though i may be wrong.....and xbox live has so many people that are on it now, and seein as how it has windows medi center buil;t into it, it will attract more people...so in the long run i believe this will be nintendos last console before they take the route of sega, and making games for the superior machines, in this case ones being made by microsoft and sony
EvilMonkeyBoy
Nintendo's old president stated last generation that online play wouldn't be viable during that lifespan and they wouldn't go online until they felt they had the best plan. They've gotten a new president who's looking to change their image, they've got a solid online plan, comaparable specs, and if they have a media format that is easy to develop for(Cartridges and mini-discs turned off 3rd party developers) then they have a great shot at getting back in the race, especially if their rumored technology that will change the industry can live up to the hype. Canyonero!
For what it's worth, this video was made by a fan, and does in no way resemble the actual console (currently known as the Revolution). More details should come out this week at E3.
Beaudry
I bought a Gamecube the day it came out. Now it is a dust collector while my Xbox or PS2 get the play. 1. Nintendo did not have the best hardware. Xbox has always been known to have the top specs, being the fastest machine with the best graphics. PS2 is obviously the worst graphically. 2. Super Smash Brother is not a great game. When people mention it as a great game it just shows how weak the system is. 3. The worst thing about the Cube is the lack of 3rd party support. Way too often games will be released on PS2 & Xbox, but they will skip the Cube. Revenge of the Sith, all the ESPN sports games, etc. 4. The Cube occasionally has an exclusive a killer game (Resident Evil 4, Zelda, Metroid, Super Monkey Ball), but all the Nintendo fans fail to realize that the other systems have great exclusives, too. (GTA, Halo) 5. Almost all Nintendo games are cartoonish

Almost all Nintendo games are cartoonish for me, it's simple. i don't have time to play tons of games. i play sports games, and only ea sports. they are just as good on the gamecube. personally, i like the gamecube controller way better. other than that, i play the nintendo exclusives, which, for me, make it worth my while. i grew up on these games, and they keep on bringing it. i agree, smash brothers was not a great game. but mario party made for an excellent drinking game:cheers: 3rd party programmers is a good point. i'm a bit perturbed that rots isn't on the cube, but i'll live. it's probably better for me that way. I feel the same way. I don't have time to play much and you can get most, if not all EA games on any system. I would rather play Mario Kart, Zelda, and Donkey Konga than the exclusive titles on other systems.
