Redskin1121
Who's this guy? My name is Shan (pronounced Shawn) and I host a daily Sportstalk show on an ESPN Radio affiliate in Maryland. I cover Redskins, Ravens and other local sports. The show is on Monda-Friday from 10am-1pm Eastern Time. I take phone call-ins throughout the entire week on all of the above issues. The focus of the David Patten interview was his arrival to Redskins Park. He confirmed the fact that Joe Gibbs called him at 12:01 at the beginning of the free agency period. He told me about the impressive atmosphere at the park and how all he cares about is winning. He is a very religious guy who seems intent on restoring some pride in this organization. He is not ****y but seemed very confident in his abilities. Let me know if you have any more questions.
SkinsTillIDie
Does David feel he is the legitamite #2 receiver on this team? Is he expecting to start? And did he say anything about Ramsey? Thanks a bunch
Redskin1121
Most guys talk about doing whatever it takes to win...we know they don't often mean it. Patten does. As I said there is no doubt he feels that he will be one of the 2 starting WR's. Tough to evaluate because Santana just got to camp. Asked him about watching Moss in the AFC East...Said he obviously brings speed to the table and big play ability. Just look at both of their YPC numbers. Also asked him about the high attendance during the offseason programs: said it is a testament to the coach to have tso many guys participating
Walking Deadman
Thanks 1121, Did Patten mention anything about multiple WR sets (3-4 WR's instead of just 2 last year)? Also, what does he think about some of the other corp. WR's like McCants, Jacobs or Thrash? Also, anything abouth the chemistry with Ramsey? Thanks again, -goskins
bubba9497
it is a testament to the coach to have so many guys participating something many people overlook, only worrying about Sean Taylor's abscence

SkinsTillIDie
Originally posted by bubba9497 something many people overlook, only worrying about Sean Taylor's abscence Exactly. Even players with questionable work habits like McCants are there. Getting 99% of players to voluntary camp is something I'm sure Mr. Spurrier could never do. Authentic, I can tell you this: I prefer to go through agents and not PR offices to get NFL players for my show. Often times, you end up speaking with the agent if he has a smaller organization. I ask every one of them if their clients feel that Redskins Park is a laughing stock because of the losing. i can clearly remember the response from one of the agents. He told me that his client felt a different atmostphere at the mini-camps than what he has heard. He explained to me something that I didn't understand, how long it takes to change a losing culture. I do think that things are changing with this team. There is one more thing I ask every Redskins agent. Has Gibbs lost the ability to communicate with todays players? Not one of them has suggested that he has lost touch. Thats what I can tell you for now. I often track down Nunyo and LaCanfora as my "Redskins Insiders" Jason is superior to Nunyo on the radio and I try to track them down as often as possible. bubba9497
Redskin1121 again :welcome:... and thanks is your station local only or can it be accessed on the web or satalite radio? Do you have the ability to record inverviews to load on a website for later listening? If so maybe you could get some space here or work some arrangement with Blade & Die Hard to carry the taped interviews or a link or something. Unless of course, your station has some policy against that. Thanks again
