Tell me about Ramsey

He seemed like a popular draft pick a couple of years ago. Do you think Gibbs is acting prematurely by drafting Campbell? To be honest, I haven't seen enough of Ramsey to be a good judge, but I thought he had some good moments. He kind of reminds me a little bit of Tom Brady.

What do you think?

Are you trying to be nice after alienating so many people with your last thread, Parcells? ;)

I don't know about Tom Brady, but the kid has a rocket for an arm, comparable to that of Favres. He doesn't have the accuracy that Favre has, and he lacks touch on the short passes. He improved a lot in that department last season, but he didn't look very good with the long ball. Part of that was slow receivers, however (Coles - toe, Gardner - 4.5ish, I think). He tended to overthrow receivers on the long ball, but I think that will change with speedy receivers. Also, I think he lost a lot of confidence by not starting the first 8 games; which he seemed to be gaining back in the final few games. Hopefully he comes into this year fully confident and ready to work. He doesn't have to be great, just good for the Skins to suceed (Gibbs is run first).

As far as Campbell, Gibbs loves having a lot of solid QBs on the roster. I'm of the opinion that he is only a threat to Ramsey if Ramsey screws up this year. Its PR's job to lose. He's also insurance in case Ramsey doesn't return, or if he gets injured. But in no way is he a candidate for the starting QB position this season, in my opinion. Hopefully an improved O-Line will improve Ramsey's game by a bunch.

He gives the Skins leverage if PR plays well next year (and another option if he doesn't) and wants a big deal prior to his last contract year in 2006. Nobody wanted a clip board carrier but Gibbs is a couple chess moves ahead of most of us.

Thanks for the reply everybody. I think Ramsey has potential if he can get the experience under his belt. The question is whether he will get the chance. I hope he does. I like watching him play.

As far as whether I'm being nice or not, the only thing I will say about that is that because I'm a Cowboys fan, most of you will automatically count me in among the trolls. I got it. And I don't pretend to hide my opinions about who is the better team. But I always give credit when credit is due.

I've already stated that I think Gibbs is a great coach and there is enough players on your roster for putting something together. I just question the lack of a GM, much the same way I hated the way Jerry Jones ran the Cowboys with all of his puppet coaches between Jimmy Johnson and Bill Parcells.

Anyway, that's for another thread. Don't give up on Ramsey just yet.

Not true. At least not from my experience. Though a suspicious eye has been known to be cast from time to time, ( simply based on the number of actual trolls that have shown up from time to time), by and large one is not judged to be a troll simply by team affiliation. There will be a few exceptions of course, but there always are. Would like to think that all posters here are given the benifit of the doubt untio such time as posts deem otherwise. Another words, it's the quality and the tone of posts that are of importance. Among other things.

Do the letters FO mean anything to you, Cowboy fan?

Nobody could possibly care any less what you think. Buh-bye.

Ramsey has great arm strength, we all know that. He has the potential to really sling it downfield, and supposedly the recievers actually had a problem catching his passes when he stepped in this season, after they had been thrown to by a soft-armed Brunell for so long. His decision making has stuttered the team's progress, and he has made some cruicial errors in tight situations. He tries to force in too many passes, which leads to unecessary turnovers. On the other hand, he has shown flashes of brilliance and the ability to really control the tempo of a game. His lack of mobility is frusterating at times too.

I think he can definately be a starter in this league, but Campbell probably has more potential to be a star in this league. Not saying that Jason will, but I have my doubts that Patrick can be a top tier QB. But then again, we don't need him to be. This will be the season that makes or breaks his career. If he can simply manage a game, keep the turnovers to a minimum, make the right decisions and complete the intermediate passes, that should be enough for him to keep his job. The one thing that I doubt about Ramsey is if he can actually win us a game, not just not lose one. But I still don't think we have seen enough from him to make an accurate portrayal.

PCS, I was just going to respond to your other post regarding members here giving Cowboy fans the benefit of the doubt, by saying there ARE posters here that are exceptions to that rule. Then good 'ol tizzod came by and proved that point sooner than I could

And naturally, you later edited your post, to say there ARE exceptions :D

Question for ya CP; who exactly is the GM of the Cowboys? Who is in full charge of personnel decisions?!?!?!?!

*end of jeopardy theme song*

Too late..."Who is Bill Parcells!" Correct, for 1000 dollars. So, if you're concerned with the lack of GM in Washington, maybe you oughta turn some of those concerns inward...

Hey, give CoachParcells a little more time to respond. He was probably extremely busy pounding the crap out of tizzod :hammer:

Hey man, 2 minutes is more than they get on final jeopardy, and that question was a softball! ;)

I just think Cowgirl fans have no business criticizing Gibbs for taking on personnell decisions, when Parcells has the same exact position as Gibbs does.

No, I don't mind the occasional jabs like the one tizzod just threw out. Most of you guys have been straight up and considering that this is your board, that's more than fair.

Although, you SHOULD do us one favor if you're going to hang around a Redskin board. Change your inititials.....CP is already taken by our much-loved runningback.

I see your point. But when Jerry hired Parcells, he publicly conceded that he had to change the way he did things. Parcells took the job under the condition that he makes personnel decisions on the field. So if Jerry gets loopy and goes out and gets another Quincy Carter or whatever, Parcells has the ultimate veto on the field. So, by now Jerry has figured out that he better go get the type of players that Parcells wants.

I suggest CoPa, or CoPar, or maybe SubPar, as in the record of Parcells' team this year compared to his previous years of coaching...

Let me think about it for a bit.

How about "14-1"? That's kind of catchy...:)
