Mickalino
Why is it, in a "professional office setting", that it's perfectly acceptable for a woman to wear, what is essentially a "tank-top", something that exposes the entire, arm, shoulders, and armpits. But if a man was to wear that same piece of clothing, it would be deemed unacceptable. I dont get it. And women supposedly have more body parts to cover up than men do. In the first office setting I worked in, one of my male coworkers asked the same question of the senior team lead. Tongue in cheek, he said, and I quote: "They shave their pits, and they sorta show their tits." I'm glad I am not there anymore. I was mortified. But hey, there's your explanation. See what being inquisitive'll get ya?
flyingtiger1013
It depends on the office. My wife cannot wear anything that doesn't cover the top of her arms. In my office the woman that sits behind me wears the SHORTEST skirts and F.M. shoes and they don't say a word to her. She's 43 and at least she has the legs of a 22 year old. Us guys don't complain at all, but I'm surprised that the other women don't.

@DCGoldPants
we had something happen at my office a few years back. The dress code is biz casual, but with no open toe shoes...because we have labs on site. Well, at nobody followed that rule. But some guys were getting in trouble from now wearing a collar on their shirts, even though that specifically wasn't in the rules. But the open toe was. Well, at a dept meeting, somebody complained......and the VP who's admin wanted open toe....changed the rules so now collars are a must, and sandals on women are cool. Nobody wants to see hairy arms at work and if I guy shaves them I don't want to see "him" sleeveless either.

Bugs'
I'm a pig....so I would only complain if the woman did not look good in the revealing clothing....actually, I probably wouldn't complain because it might ruin it for everyone....so, I guess I would take the good with the bad... SkinsD
Ya they are cracking down on the dress code for me too (every summer it starts). What I don't get is why men have to tuck in their shirts and cannot wear sandals. I work in a call center so we never see the customers. I was told the women don't have to tuck in their shirts because they have wide hips... I told them that this is an office - most of the men have wider hips then the women. JMac
The answer is easy. Guys like Tarhog pictured below ruin it for us.
Mickalino
There's a simple solution to the armpit problem. Hire these "Armpit Inspectors", for anyone who wears tanktop to work.

NoCalMike
I don't mind at all that women can get away with wearing tighter, sexier clothes then men, my complaint however is that guys are barely even allowed to wear anything casual.
NYSkins1
There's a double standard at my school, too. I go to a private school, so we have a pretty strict dress code for guys (collared shirt tucked in, no rips in pants, must wear socks...), while the girls' dress code is almost identical to those in public schools. Mind you, I don't mind having to tuck in my shirt; I think looking nice actually promotes a healthy learning environment, but a similar standard should be applied to the girls. Mickalino
The craziest example of this I've ever seen was in a GYM !! I went to a gym once, as a temporary member, and they didnt allow the guys to wear tank-tops !! Yet the girls are allowed to run around half naked, exposing almost their entire top, with a dental-floss like t-backs pushed up the @ss crack of their leotards. The guys couldnt wear tank-tops ! Come on, this is a gym, for cryin out loud !! Obviously I never went from a temporary member to permanent, at that dump.
