I would be very leery of Hardy at this point of his career. Besides, just because a guy is 245 doesn't mean he can move inside. More often than not you see a smaller middle backer move to the outside. The switch inside is a tough one and that is what made Pierce's emergence in 2004 surprising to many. If he's been in Williams system before, then sure, I'm open to the idea. However, assuming he's a 30-something with no background in the system(which he appears to be), I say pass. Don't we have about 10 LB's by now (before our draftees): Arrington, Washington, Barrow, Clemons, Marshall, Allen, Barnes,Campbell, Keasey,Tuipala. We don't need any other LB's for now. He hasnt had a spotty injury history at all...only twice has he not played all 16 games in a season follwed by he did move inside in 2003 and lead the team in tackles....he would be great for depth and also he is a great locker room presence Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

joe Posted May 4, 2005 Share Posted May 4, 2005 Hardy is a pretty good outside linebacker but when he was brought to Cinncie it was to play the middle LB position in Marvin Lewis' defense. The guy has the speed to be Ray Lewis, but obviously it did not work out. Hardy was moved to the outside LB position last year. That apparently did not work out much better since they have now let him go. I think we need to trust Lewis judgement on this.
