We Want Elton

Recommended Posts

If he's available at 112 I really hope we take him. I don't know why he's free fallen like this. I understand he pulled a hammy at his workout and ran a slow 40. I don't care. Elton Brown was the best OG in college football last year, imo. He's a 6'6", 340 pound freight train. We could really use him.

whoa!!! Elton Brown is still available? We really need to take him, he was rated as the best guard before the combine, and I still think he is, from the few UVA games I watched last season, the guy can pull. He needs to stay in shape a little better, or we'll have another Dockesuck on our hands, but I think he's an upgrade otherwise.

LOL. Someone needs to motivate Elton Brown.

Brown was out of shape and overweight and didn't work out at the combine; went home after 1 day at the Senior Bowl; and then only did 19 reps and ran a lousy 5.79 forty before pulling a hamstring and quitting at his Pro Day. The biggest day of his life to date, and he can't get in shape for the Senior Bowl, combine or his Pro Day.

The Skins never keep more then 10 offensive lineman counting the long snapper, so if they drafted Elton Brown, someone they are counting on would have to be cut later, like Ray Brown, Dockery, Molinaro or Wilson.

Skins would be better served drafting the underrated DE Bill Swancutt or Jovan Haye; or a center or Robert McCune.

elton brown is not slow. He just had a bad day is all. Anyone thats ever watched him play knows he is the best pulling gaurd in the draft. he is an out an out mauler around a corner. He would be perfect for gibbs counter trey plays. combine times are over-rated. Just look at denvers picking of clarrett.

I like Swancutt too. Hope he's still there when we pick.

It would be a huge mistake if Elton Brown is there and we don't take him. This guy could be the best pick value of the entire draft. So he didn't do well in the combine and senior bowl. Do we dismiss the increadible career this guy had just because of two events? I bet you "papa Hog" Bugle would have this guy ready to start by late August. I sure the hell hope the Eagles don't take him.

Anyone who thinks we should still draft Elton Brown 1)hasn't been paying attention to his actions (or non-actions) in preparation for the draft, and 2) doesn't understand the importance of character to Joe Gibbs.

What is it that some don't understand about the significance of these developments? He leaves the Senior Bowl without talking to anyone, with no explaination. That raised quite of few eyebrows and red flags. Then, at the combine, he gets weighed and measured, and AGAIN disappears. Not only didn't he work out, he didn't participate in a single interview. HELLO PEOPLE! The only explaination was that he left on the "advice" of his agent. Who the hell is this guy's agent, and why isn't Brown smart enough to know better?

Well, it's one thing to display such bad judgement and character. That really hurt his draft position. But if he could show he was physically gifted enough for some teams to still make the investment, then he could salvage his situation, somewhat. Well, he not only didn't impress, he utterly failed. That kind of physical display isn't even worth of an NFL draft pick.

All Brown has going for him is his film. But on film, he shows the ability to physically dominate college players, but needed work on his technique and consistancy of effort. After his pathetic pre-draft showings, anyone who suggests he can overcome his shortcomings with a little prodding is kidding themselves. This guy is such a major project, I'm not sure he's worth a draft pick.

I seriously doubt he's going to be a Redskin after tomorrow. He's too much of a project, and his performance at Pro Day suggests he's go no more upside than Dockery. Only more headaches.

Elton JOHN would be a more solid draft pick.

Listen, I watched every game Elton Brown played in college - either live or no TV. The guy has 1st round talent. Motivation was never a problem in college. He's had some problems apparently leading up to the draft, what sounds like terrible advice from his agent. But he's still a hell of an OL. He well worth a 4th round pick. This is a good kid and great football player. Nobody is going to convince me otherwise based on a few mistakes in the pre-draft season.

The "only" explanation? How do you come up with that? :wtf:

There are many explanations, perhaps we should do the one thing no-one else thought of and go ask him.

On second thought, nah. Let's blame his agent.

This is a good kid and great football player.

A good kid and a great football player doesn't act and test like that. He's a mess; his behavior is simply amazing, considering what's been at stake. His scouting reports, almost universally, have said that he hasn't played up to his physical potential. He's apparently overestimated his own ability, and doesn't feel like he has to work. Sorry, I don't care how talented a kid might be or how dominating a college player he was; if he doesn't want to work, I don't want him on my team.

The "only" explanation? How do you come up with that?

This was the context of that comment: the advice of his agent was the "only" explaination that Brown himself left, so reported several media outlets, who got their info from NFL personnel-types at the combine. Sure, there could have been numerous explainations, but that was the only one Brown gave.

Elton Brown is an enormous risk, to me. There are still several offensive linemen available who I think would be much better fits, who have indicated they are willing to work to maximize their talent.

I wouldn't be suprised if he slides into the sixth round. His actions are suspect, inexcusable, and have yet to be explained.

He would have been better served to explain that he simply listened to poor advice of his agent.... and then FIRED that agent. He should have scheduled a workout for the middle of this last week and proved to NFL scouts that he's a safe pick. He did neither.

Chris Canty has a lot of question marks. Great physical specimen (6'8, 290 !), but never really dominated in college like I thought he could have. Plus, he's had injury history. We don't even know what he's capable anymore. Did he completely shred his knee? I don't know. Has he worked out at all for anyone since the injury recovery? I fear Canty might be another Anthony Poindexter situation.
