E-Dog Night
Anyone seen this movie? If you have ever pondered the mysteries of the universe, what "it all" means, is there a God and what is God (and if you haven't pondered these questions, check your pulse) then you owe it to yourself to see this movie. I mean I would drop whatever plans you had this evening and rent it. And for those of you who have seen it...well I don't really know where to begin. I have so many questions. Anyone on this board a quantum physicist? :whoknows: http://www.whatthebleep.com/
SnyderShrugged
I just watched it last weekend. Deeeeeeeeeep stuff! Interesting though and well put together for a documentary style format. I thought the part about the water molecules changing after the "power words or chi" were attached to them was fascinating. I plan to try and learn more on the vast subject of quantum physics. Any ideas on where to start?

It's one of those things that I can't really even believe entirely. How is that possible? As far as learning more about quantum physics, I really don't know, but the website has some stuff that you might want to check out. There are conferences and what not. I also like the idea of creating my day. I'm just getting into meditation and I think I'm going to try that.
chomerics
First I've ever heard of it, but I can't wait to check it out. IJ should see it as well. . .

E-Dog Night
It's definitely out for rental - I got it form Netflix. Since it' relitively new, Blockbuster should have it, but you never know with them. Side note - ever since I got Netflix, I haven't stepped foot in a Blockbuster since. I think the more people that see this movie, the better. I watched it again last night. There are also special features on the flip side - interviews with the cast and crew and so forth. Yes Ghost, the scientists who actually study are "loon jobs" Way to be openminded and keep the rhetoric to a minimum, guess you couldn't find any Coltier written on quantum physics huh

Wait - don't you know that Nibbs is always right about everything? For the record, I think that these loon jobs he was referring to are not quantum physicists, but certain individuals that have whacked out theories about life and use quantum physics to justify their opinions. At least, that's the only thing that makes sense, because only a jackass would try to claim that all quantum physicists were loon jobs.
chomerics
I saw the movie last night and it is really an outward thinking documentary. It gets people thinking on a whole different wavelength about what reality actually is, what is observible and how we perceive it. They went over the top on the religion comments and they don't explain quantum physics, but they really did a good job at showing how the quantum world is bizzare and against what we think would be the answer. I am going to watch it a few more times, but I would suggest anyone who studies physice/astronomy or philosophy to watch the movie. BTW, I'm not to sold on the water part. A water molecule will always crystilaize differently. This is why they say no 2 snowflakes are alike. The wording on the bottle had nothing to do with its formation. Also, you can not control the future any more then your actions premit you to. In other words, you can not make the lottery simply appear to match your number just because you want it to. Quantum physics does not work like that.

Maybe it's just me and I am having a hard time comprehending Ghosts posts of late. Maybe I'm just looking at the obvious, and I should be thinking like a quantum phycisist and look at what is not infered by the posts as reality. Quantum physics does not work like that. I think they were right on with the religon comments. There is a difference between spirituality and organized religon, which is a topic that perhaps deserves its own thread. But I agree with how man creating a God in his own image is arrogant and silly. We can, as people, no more define God that we can solve all the mysteries of the entire universe while sitting on our couch. God is beyond our capacity to define. We can simply be aware of God's presence and follow a path that is God like. As far as the water molecules are concerned, I need to look into that a bit more before I'm sold on the idea. And I don't think they claimed you could make the lotto balls come up with the numbers you want. More that they were saying a preson's thoughts have an impact on the world around them. Nibbs is definitely not a conservative nor a loyal follower of Rush I enjoy talking of quantum physics with you guys, but don't you think it's a little unfir to attack the guy when he isnt here to respond? Everyone is entitled to their opinion and we should assume that others could reject that opinion as well. Lets add some thought diversity more to Tailgate and we'll all be a little happier. Take care guys.

Ghost of
Thanks Chom, for the constant attacks. Did you think that maybe I wasn't referring to the actual physicists involved with quantum theory and that I was talking about the assorted 'noids who used quantum theory to justify every bizarre idea that comes down the pike because in their brains it's all relative and nothing is 'known?' Chom, let me extend an olive branch to you now. I know you think I called you a 'retard' in that thread, and I can see why you did, but I didn't. I think from that point on, you are reading my posts a certain way because of that. And seriously, enough with the Ann Coulter stuff. I post an article I agree with one time and now you're referring to it, I guess in an attempt to discredit or mock me. Who cares if I posted an article by her? If that's enough to prejudice you against all my posts then perhaps you should just ignore me. That or you can drop it. NCMike links to Democracy Now and other than in THOSE threads, I don't refer to his using them as posting material, do I? It's a form of attack that I have not yet reported because I figured the idea of being more mature would come to you at some point. I still stand by that. And to be quite honest, it's you that have acquired a bitter edge of late. I'm not the only one to think so, and you're way too intelligent not to be see that if you relax a moment. We've ALL been there(I know I have.) I don't have time to post really, so maybe you're reading something into my posts because I am rushing them. How does my post on this thread have an air of superiority? Seriously, it's a joke at the expense of those that I thought everyone here was familiar with--those advancing an oddball agenda using their misunderstandings of quantum physics. Now, perhaps that is in itself assuming superiority, but then that would essentially be curtailing a lot of fun that we ALL have on this forum. I notice that a lot of people do not like when someone posts with an authoritative tone or strongly asserts a position or contention. That is not really my problem. I know people have different styles, but this is mine. Trust me, a large part of your assessment comes from your differing viewpoint. I've gotten many times the compliments as I have complaints about my posts on Tailgate, and if anything, I've behaved worse on the FedEx forum (in a way that even I would admit was borderline. In any event, if you want to bring me up as a topic of discussion, since I'm not always on like I used to be or won't know to look, just shoot me a PM with the thread name. No hard feelings. I did take offense to the retard comment and I though it was uncalled for. From my point of view, the only discussions I had with you over a time period of a month was a post where you neglected to write your thoughts, but instead posted a Coltier atricle, and another thread where you called me a retard. I will call it a truce as well, I don't think you are a bad guy, and I actually like some of the banter we've had for a while. I will admit that since the Coltier article, I have not been looking too deeply into your posts and only taking them at face value, which is why I've been so abrasive towards you. Your a smart guy, but I don't need to tell you this, you already know it You should use your brain for doing good things, like studying superstring theory and whatnot. BTW, you really should watch the movie, it is pretty intense.
Ghost of
I have no problem with the movie. Just on a tangent of my own. And truce acknowledged and official. *Why can't we be friends?!
