Huh, i guess i'm gonna move into the lead for youngest poster, aside from bucs/rupaul who is probably 12. I'm a 20 year old mathematics major at Caltech in L.A. Only got to see about 1 in 4 games last year, so i hope the internet radio broadcasts go back up. I really got into football around the fourth grade and played on a little league team. It gave me a real appreciation for the metal aspects of the game. Football has a chesslike quality in all the pauses, the plays the set ups (that's why i never got into soccor) its amazing how such a brutal game can be so thought dependent. I guess that's why football has more coaches than any other sport. I kind of moved away from the playing though when i went to high school, too much studying to do. Anyway, i have to get back to my underage drinking....

Just to make Tenn.Carl feel young, I'm 52. Live in upstate NY, and was a Jints fan till my service time. Was stationed in DC in '69, and been a Skins fan since. Been taking alot of crap from my buddies, but my time will come AGAIN.

29 yrs of age. Hoping to be for the next ten years.

Beautiful wife, no kids. But before we were married, all my wife used to watch was this wedding show on TLC that was nothing but about people getting married over and over. Now she watches this Maternity Ward show over and over.....and the paint that has me in that corner is beginning to dry.

I grew up in Colombia Heights DC until it was time for me to go to High School. A shooting outside the school scared my mother into keeping me out of Cardoza and we "fled" to the suburbs of Reston, VA where I later graduated from South Lakes HS.

A sudden move to Charlotte, NC has had me here the last 11 years. Still a lifelong Skins and Hoyas fan, never liked hockey, and am strangly attaching to the Charlotte Hornets because I play with some of the players in the short offseason.

Drunken Boxer, don't feel to warped sitting in front of the internet listening to games. One fall I worked at Charlotte airport on the runway as a refueler. While everyone wore earplugs. My smart self wore a walkman on Sunday's to listen to our 3-13 Skins(Turner's first year) go down in flames. Everyone thought I was crazy, but my hearing survived. Thank God now for sattelite.

Great thread! I was born in Montgomery County, Maryland in June of 1973. Lived in Iowa for a short time and moved to Manassas, Va. Grew up there and left when I went to college. Graduated from S.U.N.Y. Brockport in 1997 and ended up here in Salt Lake City, Utah. In May of this year I finished getting my Master's Degree in Public Administration at the University of Utah. Currently I'm working for a IT company and looking for other opportunities in the DC area.

Have been a Redskin fan all of my life. For me the Gibbs era was the best so when he announced his retirement it was the darkest Redskin moment I've had. I'm into NASCAR and of course my favorites drive for Joe Gibbs. I also follow the Caps, which like taxes really makes my life miserable in April! I'm single. That's about it for me.

I grew up in Upstate NY and graduated from SUNY Cortland. I used to follow the Browns when I was kid - Milt Plum, Jim Brown, Mitchell, Renfro and bedame a Jowe Willie fan in high school and college. I remember some great Redskins/Giants games as well and loved that rivalry.

I married (29.5 years now) and spent time at Texas A&M getting my Ph.D and moved to Long Beach, CA where we raised our three sons. My wife and I work in education. I became friends with Jeff Severson who played for (I believe) about 10 years with the Redskins (anyone have any good stories about Jeff?) and got to know George Allen during the last year of his life - wonderful man. Being from Long Beach, I am also a Todd Husak fan. I will be traveling to the NE and hope to see some training camp and attend the first home pre-season game.

Great to get some history on everyone.

Hiya and welcome to the best Redskins-centric place on the net, duke-skins. (You too vt_skins. Om's got an ally!)

Born in 1958, Oakland CA, to an army colonel and his German wife. Lived in Berlin, Frankfurt, Paris and New York before settling in DC's Maryland suburbs in 1964. Dad began taking me to Redskins and Senators games and it was quickly established that I preferred football (lucky for me).

Matriculated at Maryland, married 1986, divorced 1993, had a daughter in between, now twelve and living with her mom in West Virginia. Luckily for all concerned, the split was amicable and her mom and I remain close friends. Looking forward to next month when daddy's little girl will be coming up to stay for two weeks.

Been slaving away in the MIS mines of a large DC retailer, but would chuck it all for a cushy government job smile.gif

Other favorite teams besides Skins and Terps: Celtics, Wizards (not much to cheer about there for a while, eh?), Caps, anyone who beats the Orioles, Notre Dame football, Penn State football, Oakland Raiders (in that order).

Most despised teams: Cowboys (duh), Florida State, Eagles, Giants, Duke, Carolina, anything associated with Steve Spurrier, Ravens and all other Baltimore-based organizations, Flyers, 76ers, Penguins, Johns Hopkins lacrosse (in that order).

Other pursuits: electronics, fishing, dabbling with the bass guitar.

Preferred entertainment - music - classical, jazz, classic and some alternative rock; books - scifi, murder mysteries, political thrillers; movies - anything Kubrick.

I can't remember having a thread like this before, and I don't know why - good job, duke-skins.

when i was about 5 years old,my brother had the team logos all out on the table.he said"a real football fan michael stays with only one team and no more forever".Then he said" so pick who you think you can root for for the rest of your life".so i looked down at all these cool logos of the teams (of course then 28 of them)and said" i like this one kevin",this is my favorite one".Then he said" Then he said, this one",This is the washington redskins".Then he looked at me and smiled and said" good choice".Then i said weirdly"I know".So I have been a redskins fan ever since as well as played football my whole life and now I coach junior teams(mighty mights)on the season.I also work in sales for a timeshare company!(my actual job). But i love coaching more.I also am married and have 2 kids.(im 28 and live in springfield ,MO)Hail Skins!!!!!!!!!!

duke,

welcome to the board. i'm 39 & from the great state of maine. met my most recent girlfriend a few yrs ago, then migrated down to citrus co,fla. to be with her. and i haven't regretted, not a single moment, she's the best! they say this area is the lightening capital of the world and i mean to tell ya,it's the truth.

we have thunder&ligthening up home, but not nearly as frequent or intense. these clouds, these very black clouds tend to fester up rather than roll in and they're very imposing when you're under them. you can generally see much of the horizon out around the edges(that's how concentrated they are) but they're real low, seemingly just above you, whew.

i'm a bit of a rolling stone i guess. i've been everything from a papermaker to an over the road truck driver. i've been on-line for just a few yrs and presently i'm taking some computer related courses.

contrary to the popular opinion shared by the board members here,we have my brother to THANKsmile.gif for my becoming a redskin fan. the 1st full gm i remember watching was the KC/MINN SB. my oldest brother was a life-long cowboy fan and(unlike myselfsmile.gif) could be a real dick at times. and i remember he'd talk them up all the time, but he'd get a real itch & become antsy, come redskin weeksmile.gif...HA-HA..YES!!

washington did well against dallas during that period i came to show a real interest in sports,so i took to them.smile.gif as for my opinions,i tend to be tougher on the team than most i'd say. i'm a big fan but i'm no cheerleader! i be BC(bash central)and i have & will shred! there's a player or two that always seem to get me squirrelly,so should i offend,it's not my intention.smile.gif take care & welcome

Wow, this thread has been even more than I expected. Skins fans from all over the country. Ace, where do you live in Springfield. My family lived there from 1980-88'. I graduated from SMS when Charlie Spoonhour was the coach. I worked at KY-3 as a weekend weather anchor and later worked for KSPR when it first came on the air, first as an independent station and then as the ABC affiliate. Still have a picture of me with Oprah Winfrey when she was there for our grand opening. Still keep in touch with friends there. Great town!

I guess I have to bolster the young'un statistics smile.gif

I'm a 23 year old who was born and raised in Northern VA. I've been a die-hard skins fan for most of my life, and I dont think I had much choice in the matter. My first memories of football were at the age of 5, as I watched the '82 skins. I consider myself to have been introduced into football during the Joe Gibbs era, and I think my appreciation for the game is greater because of that.

Since people are throwing career info in here, I'm a Senior Software Engineer for a certain enormously large local technology/media empire.

I turned 27 in April. I've been a Skins fan since '81. I've been not married but have been engaged for 4.5 years to a beautiful and understanding woman.

Of note... I'm also Canadian. I graduated university with a BA in political science (ie. humanities). Sigh. I work as an Investigative Analyst for Ranger Online .

I am the original founder of ExtremeSkins which has since undergone new ownership under Blade. Hence "The Squire" rank except I'm not dead and I still own shares in the company smile.gif

I created the site just over a year ago - wow time flies - as an alternative to The Sporting News Redskins message board which had become infested with filth. We started as a small family and grew into a very large extended family smile.gif

It wasn't until I got turned on to the internet a few years ago that I can say I've been a *die hard*. Though the time I have available to post has diminished considerably as of late. Although I do have a browser window open at all times with ExtremeSkins. I am an ExtremeSkins addict.

For the record... I'm a also New York Knicks, New York Yankees and Buffalo Sabres fan.

Hey y'all,

Thus far I appear to be our sole representative from the Capitol of the Confederacy :-) I grew up NOVA, including four delightful years at Chantilly High School. I married my college girlfriend from Longwood College (yes, Longwood) then lived in Old Town, Alex., and then Arlington (Fairlington). We have since moved down here to Richmond. Little one is on the way, and it is VERY likely he'll be born right near Opening Day.

God, Opening Day. I can hardly wait. I don't imagine that with a baby I'll be able to catch much football this year, but I guess I'll find out. Fan since 81 or 82. I'm a Business Analyst for a software development firm.

I'm 29 years old and seem to be the only one posting from Dallas so far! (Boy, has it been a rough go of it as of late) I've lived in the Dallas area since I was four and have adopted most of the local teams EXCEPT for football. My dad is from DC and so I grew up on redskin football! I've been a Redskin forever and that will NEVER change!

I'm married to a beautiful Canadian women and have been for 3 years now. My 30th birthday wish from her was to travel to where the Skins were playing to see the game. Of course my birthday is 10/16 and the Skins are in Dallas 10/15! What luck, but a victory would be the best present ever. We have no kids yet, but we do have 1 Labrador Retriever.

Looking forward to the season, GO SKINS!!!

Hi...great thread. I feel like a composite of several of you guys. I'm 49 year old fat fingered keyboard abuser who graduated from George Mason & UVA. I waste your hard earned tax dollars as a Government bureaucrat managing C2 development performed by a crew of socially maladjusted miscreants (hmmmm, that suspiciously fit the profile of some of you guys....Hey jigs up, get back to work!)

Been married for 27 years to a charming, intelligent, beautiful woman, and have three wonderful daughters. Yep, I'm the bottom of the food chain in my, oops, I mean their house. We live in a quiet pretend country development south of Warrenton.

Been a faithful Redskin fan since 65. I loved the sucky Sonny era and reveled in Gibbs' glory years. I enjoyed going to the Senator games and never forgave Bob Short for moving the team....I still root for the Texas Rangers to finish last. I support the ACC with extra rahs to UVA and MD. I still have a faint flicker of attachment to the wizards and a mild interest in the Caps.

I lurk here and at the CP board and really enjoy the light banter and the swapping of insights and ignorance on a grand franchise playing a marvelous game.

A cool thread! Nifty to see fans from all over the country.

Born in 1969 in Silver Spring, MD, I've been a 'Skins fan since I was a kid--I was raised a 'Skins fan by my father, who moved with our family to the DC area around 1968. Bless my fathers passed soul, he was a hard-core 'Skins fan until he became too ill to even watch TV--His favorite Redskins cup is still one of my most cherised possessions.

When Marty brings us a Lombardi, I plan on drinking a huge shot of whiskey out of that cup! Cheers, Dad!

I remember, when I was a kid, there was always something magical about the team, even when they weren't doing well. Even before I was old enough to understand the game, I always loved the color, logo, and "feel" of the Redskins organization--and Joe Gibbs was the icing on the cake!

Thanks, Norv, for those glory-"less" years.

Every year Fall comes around, I can't help but think of Redskins' football!

Oh, and a bit of personal information: I am 31, single, living and working as tech. support at a small software firm in Frederick Co, MD.

Great thread! Talk about a bunch of eclectic souls with a common cause. Cool.cool.gif

I'm not the oldest one here, but close. 47, married (awesome wife, understands Skins insanity), one son (12, very, very hip). Live in Tallahassee, went to USF (go Bulls!). Chemical Engineer. Recently got into over-40 baseball. What a trip!

Grew up in NoVa. Lived in TX for while (was there when the Skins won their last SB - talk about awesome. Surprisingly, I did find Cowboy fans to be quite civil). Love the Skins. Looking forward to this season in a big way. No Norvousness whatsoever, right Om?smile.gif

Hi, didn't mean to skip over the greetings to the new posters, like yourself, vt_skins and others.

I am 46, Skins fan since 66, engaged without the set date yet, computer systems operator, have never ever seen a board like this anywhere and in spite of all the downs I may have, I still come back here. It's contagious and so are the Skins!

Still love the Terps, Bullets, G'Town, McKinley Tech Trainers and Woodson, oh, Gonzaga.

Welcome and as you may have read, I can be a "spacy" conversationalist.

Note to Joey the Damn Redskin fan. You are not the only one in the family from Dallas. There is a common poster that goes by the name Mark P Skins who used to frequent here often along with the TSN messageboards before their self made demise. Can't remember the last time he posted here. But just a name to look out for none the less.

OK I couldnt help but chime in on this thread. Its great reading the backgrounds of all the posters, getting a little background on all the names I see everyday and I mean EVERYDAY.

I am more of a lurker on this board than a poster but I must admit this along with the CPND board are the best places around to read and contribute towards all of our obsession.

Born a radical Skins fan in Alexandria VA. Bounced around MD before settling in NJ,wedged smack between Jint and Iggle territory.

Im 34 and along with my elder brothers we have gone thru the highs and lows of following this great team. From The Over The Hill Gang,The Fun Bunch,Smurfs,Hogs,to the Norv/Dark Ages and the new era of Champ,Samuels and Arrington Ive spent my winters and every other season to addictivly following my team.

Ive spent more than Ive had,put off more than Ive should and have sacrificed mabey more than Ive should to follow my passion for the Skins.

Now I have the joy of bringing up my two daughters into the the world of Skins-mania and looking forward to this and many more seasons of posting and following the greatest team in all the NFL!!!

HAIL SKINS!!!!!

Most of you guys don't know me. I don't post much, but I do read this board all the time. Props to the guys who get alot of the stories out fast, and I look for stuff like that.

Anyway, I am a 40 year old life long Maryland native. I have always lived around the DC area. My dad got me into football during the '72 season. I remember watching Super Bowl VII. And I haven't missed a game since. I guess I have it goin' on becouse the wife likes watching the games too.

My wife says I am a Redskin fanatic. I come here and tell her "THESE guys are FANATICS!" biggrin.gif

I'm 44, a database administrator, live in the Virginia burbs with 1 wife, 1 dog and 3 kids. The girls, 13 and 11, both enjoy football, but my 9-yr-old son burns with white-hot intensity for the Redskins. Smart boy, without my even prompting him he never cared for Deion Sanders but immediately picked Champ Bailey as his favorite Redskin. My wife's a pretty big fan also, one of many reasons I'm a very lucky guy.

I wuz on vacation last week, came onto this thread a little late but glad I did. Man, I had no idea so many of us are so danged old!
