China Posted June 7, 2016 Share Posted June 7, 2016 It's funny that people get upset that Engrish is racist, because I get just as much humor seeing white people get kanji tattoos that don't actually say what they think the tattoo says. At least the people with the busted signs can fix their mistake pretty easily.  Not sure if the translations are real, but WOW: http://tokyodesu.com/2013/08/09/pictures-terrible-kanji-tattoos-with-their-english-translations/  A couple of those are real at least, if not all.  I looked up the sesame chicken and chicken noodle soup ones and they check out.  You can easily figure out the character for chicken which is the same in both.  Chinese characters are so complex that there are probably different interpretations of what different character combinations mean, plus you have both simplified and traditional characters.  For that reason alone I wouldn't want a kanji tattoo, because it would be difficult to be sure it was accurate.  I'd think you'd want to have someone you know and trust that can read chinese make sure it was correct before getting that kind of tattoo.  But then we all know that sometimes people just rush into getting tattoos without putting too much thought into it (or while drunk), so I'm not surprised. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

One guy she was laughing at had the Chinese characters on his arm that spelled out "Turtle Man".
