Is this $nyders Fault

OK OK Dan Snyder is directly to blame for this. The Redskins since Snyder took over, has established a reputation for shelling out HUGE bucks and not always players that are even worth it ( Brunell), now players on our team are turning their noses up at the same money that they would be tickled pink with if it were coming from another team. We have set a bad precedence and Smoot is just trying to get some of what Dan Snyder has been known to give everyone else, this is not the last time this is going to happen if they give Smoot what he wants , it's going to be open season on Snyders pockets!!!

How can you dare you say those things someone who is trying to do all he can do to help this team, no matter how much it may cost him.

geesh.

Building a team and buying a team are not the same...look at our no name defense...very efficient and cheap....at least now, come time for contract re-newal, we'll see

Some fault has to be attributed to Snyder for the staff he's put in place to acquire players. I love Dan Snyder. Some look at him with contempt for misdirected reasons.

I applaud him. Seriously, but he''s got to hold his personell guys just as accountable as he's held the coaches.

I have no qualms with the amount of money given to some of the players A good player deserves more than his peers if he performs better. It's with the type of players brought in that don't seem to ever fit.

Cept for the defense though. :dunce:

Are you acting like this on purpose?

You bring in your HOF coach, to turn the team around, and he says, I need this guy to help out the football team...

You would of said no right?

So let me guess, you just turn over your 800 million dollar investment to a hell of a guy and a great coach who hasnt been in the swing of the NFL for 12 years and you won't contest anything he says, even if its questionable. He can disagree with Gibbs remember, HE'S the owner. Coaching is Gibbs thing...making money is Snyders thing, each person handle their respective areas of specialty.

Become a Cowboys fan pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Coaching is Gibbs thing.

Gibbs wanted Brunell. That is a COACHING move. How hard is that to understand.

Not even worth looking at this thread anymore

OK jr. maybe you should lay down and sleep in the New Year. Gibbs only has to say" I want so and so" let the contract specialist and Snyder negotiate the price, on paper Brunell did look like a good fit for Gibbs style of play, but even if he played at least halfway better than he did it still wasn't worth that much money

IMO, Snyder got the monkey off his back when he hired Gibbs. Let Gibbs do his thang before we start the Snyder bashing. At least he cares about the team. What if our team was owned by Bidwell or Brown???

It's the only clever thing about this thread.

There are 31 other teams and I'm sure $nyder does not single handedly set the market. I very much doubt Smoot (or any other player) would reject the Redskins offer based on the fact that they think they can get more from the Redskins for no other reason than the fact that Snyder signs the checks.

If,

football=baseball

and

Daniel Snyder=George Steinbrenner

Then this thread may have a point. Until then, :sucks:

Well, one question that I have is why did he give Brunnell a new deal? I was under the impression he had one year left on his Jaguars deal. Why not let him play for that year remaining to see if he had anything left in the tank?

Did Brunnell have a no-trade clause that he was waiving? If not, then the 3rd rounder to the Jags should have sufficed. Right now, Brunnell could have went his way after this season as a one time mistake. Now, he's going to be haunting this franchise till the day he departs and probably well beyond.

I don't blame Snyder anymore. I blame the players and, unfotunately, coaching now. Penalties. Personal Fouls. Bad playcalling in the redzone and holding out from starting the young strong arm over the old, slow, noodle arm of Boonell.

Sorry...this is not, nor WILL it ever be on an owner who's doing EVERYTHING in his power to bring in the best to help win games.

Did anybody think (at the time) Brunell coming to DC was a bad idea? Yes, he got paid way too much and that is the FO/and Gibbs fault for bringing in a guy past his prime and paying him like he's 25, but noone really thought (or knew) Brunell was going to play this poorly. He should have been a decent starter (like Vinny t.) or a good filler in a pinch.

As for paying FA, players with contracts up. Smoot wants the $$$$ just like everyone else....I think he does want to play here but will he get paid what he wants....the question is will another team pay him what he wants (he doesn't have the rep of Champ although if he leaves the Redskins he'll probably be deemed 2005's best shutdown corner by the sports media) or will the Redskins pay him the most?

Finally, Thank God for the Salary cap!!!!!!! I don't want football to ever be like baseball. Have you heard the 2005 Yankees starting pitching salary is more than the enitire Orioles or Nationals salaries (for their whole team). W/O a salary cap, the Redskins would be like the Yankees and I would hate that.
