tr1
Joe Gibbs has a history when it comes to prima donna players...if they are good players, he keeps them. Does anyone remember Riggo taking a year off? (http://www.profootballhof.com/hof/member.jsp?player_id=180) Who brought him back? That's right, Gibbs. And does anyone remember that guy Joe Theisman? What did Gibbs do with that opinionated qb who had a huge ego? He kept him (some think longer than he should have.) I believe Coach Gibbs is pragmatic. If you produce , you stay. If you don't (and you haven't produced consistently for him in the past), you're gone (Jay Schroeder.) Just my humble opinion.
afparent
only problem is the money they pay these players. i mean could you imagine benching portis if he doesn't produce. you know he would turn into a cancer on the team. it is a delicate situation. nobody else is going to pick up his contract. This is just an example, i am not implying that this would ever happen
atloldskin
Yes, that is a big problem and it gives players too much leverage after they get the big SB, but I still think Gibbs would bench anybody, if warranted. Portis will play; Portis will mature. He just needs a better OL (and got 1300+ with this one!).
