Roster Move: Goodspeed Released

The Redskins released offensive lineman/tight end Dan Goodspeed on Tuesday.

Goodspeed, who worked mostly at tight end with the Redskins, was signed to the roster on Dec. 15 and was inactive for two games.

The Redskins are expected to fill Goodspeed's roster spot with another player on Wednesday.

With Fred Smoot and Ade Jimoh nursing injuries that could sideline them for Sunday's game against Minnesota, the Redskins may add another defensive back to the roster.

On Monday, head coach Joe Gibbs said the team may consider signing rookie cornerback Rufus Brown from the practice squad.

I don't know about that, ya'll. 7 catches and 3 for TDs isn't half bad. We need to teach him to improve his blocking and get a small tackle that we can put out there on run downs. Really, Royal seems to be waking up finally. :)

Yeah, but it wouldn't hurt to add more depth at that position..

Small tackle..not TE..:D What if Royal would go down just like a lot of player have this year? Is the small tackle going to go out and produce like Royal did or even catch a pass that comes his way?

Small tackle is a start. Get him some gloves. ;)

Any shot of landing Bubba franks?

You know what? Why not forget the big play mike williams and get Bubba Franks. Shot, we don't go deep anyway, and a beast TE would help open up a lot of things for the offense in blocking as well as over the middle passing. Franks, Royal, and Cooley. Yes... :D

Sounds good now just think how much better it will be when we draft Mike Williams to add to that mix....He will catch the intermediate routes and fades down the sideline....You have Coles on the crossing routes and deep outs to make use of his speed and you have Franks and Cooley over the middle as chkdown options for Ramsey....Our O will be able to get those tough first downs when needed w/that lineup...

Our weakness on Offense centers around the fact we don't dominate the line of scrimage. Without that we suck and Gibbs can't work his offense. If we get a line that allows Gibbs to do what he wants, we won't need a mike williams to dominate games. O-line, DE, then WR.
