Joe Sick
San Diego's trade is looking pretty good now. Of course, Brees could leave and their rookie could stink... So we could still draft anywhere from 5 to 13, right?

Put it on the countdown on the front page! 2,950 Days Until the Redskins win the Super Bowl again! Sorry, needed to add my own, not funny at all humor to this thread... HeHateMe
So are you guys rooting for a win or a loss vs. Minnesota? Might cost you a bunch of spots if you do win.
Fifty Gut
^ I always root for a win. Anyone who wants the team to lose for a better draft pick is a pathetic. SD needs to trade Rivers and gain another first rounder.
KDawg
Hehateme, I realize some Cowboy fans are cheering for losses... No offense, but I find it hard not to cheer for a win... When you start cheering for a loss for your own team, that's not being a very good fan.
Mr. S
yeh, despite the picking order, gotta root for the win.

I won't and will not. Especially against divisional opponents. I was just trying to get a feel of how important that 1st rounder is for you guys since you dont have your 2nd rounder. skinsarethebest
definitely rooting for the skins, but also hoping we don't lose ground, so rooting for az, chicago, etc. to also win

Thats the best way to put it. Just hope the teams ahead of you and behind you win too.
The X-Factor
Just curious, what kind of deal did Roy Williams get this past spring (I think he was the #8 pick). I'm just too lazy to go dig it up.
skinsarethebest
sad but true fact: if by some chance we lose and miami wins, then we actually end up with a higher pick than even the dolphins -- truly embarrassing -- who would have thought it could ever come to that

Cowboys sign first-round pick S Roy Williams -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- July 27, 2002 SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- The Dallas Cowboys on Friday added a playmaker to their secondary, signing first-round pick safety Roy Williams to a seven-year contract. The Cowboys announced Williams' deal is for nearly $20 million and includes a $9.3 million signing bonus, which will be divided over two years. In Dallas, Williams will help form one of the hardest-hitting safety tandems in the league with Darren Woodson. Selected eighth overall pick out of Oklahoma after the Cowboys traded with the Kansas City Chiefs to move down two spots, Williams was known for making big plays as a collegian. http://www.allsports.com/cgi-bin/showstory.cgi?story_id=32779

I'm not a real big fan of the Top 10 draft picks. 7 of them usually don't turn out so well. Aside from LA & ST, our most recent Top 10 draft pick is Patrick Ramsey-someone who some feel, can't handle the job he's in. On the other hand, Joe Montana was a late 2nd to early 3rd rounder (if I remember correctly) & Tom Brady was Pick #177 of his draft (again, I think). Look at Eli Manning. He's nowhere nearly as talented as his brother, but then, look at Roethlisburger. He's undefeated as a Rookie & just DESTROYED said record. Still going, in fact. He could very well win the Super Bowl as the starting QB-as a Rookie. Personally, I don't care where the picks are. I don't care who we get, as long as they fit us well & play their hearts out every chance they get, I'll be satisfied. Especially late rounders because they cost less. Actually Ramsey was the 26th pick in the draft in 2002... In recent yrs we have actually done well w/our top 10 picks... LA & Samuels Champ Bailey Sean Taylor Not bad huh.... Are you sure about that? Well, even if not Ramsey, there's always Heath Shuler. That's farther back than a few years, but just to illustrate how draft picks don't necessarily determine talent at the NFL level. I hadn't mentioned Samuels yet. I thought I would save that one for a later post. Seems this would be it. Samuels has been decent this year. His side has been stronger this year than in the past, so he has improved. Much less penalties, better pass blocking, smarter. Hopefully he will be willing to renegotiate his contract. Otherwise, we should trade him for someone else. Champ Bailey. Oh, this could get ugly. Champ Bailey was a GREAT #2 CB behind Darrell. He was a good #1 for 2 years before wanting to be traded & going to Denver. He was NEVER a shutdown corner. QBs found that out when they had to throw at him all the time to avoid the REAL shutdown corner, Darrell Green. Although, he was, as I said, a GREAT #2 guy. Not a whole lot that can be said about ST that hasn't already been said. He's a phenom. Even on the TD pass against Dallas, his speed is unreal. He ran halfway across the field when the ball was thrown & was almost there when the ball was caught. He is developing well.

Hate Champ Bailey or not, but he was and is an allpro. That is a sucessful draft pick. Get off the Heath Shuler thing it was like 10 years ago. Patrick was actually lower than 26 he was the last pick of the 1st round in which the skins traded down several times. He has better numbers than any qb taken in front of him in the draft. SkinsFTW
http://www.drafthistory.com/years/2002.html One thing I'd like to add. Just because Bailey was picked for the Pro Bowl doesnt mean hes any good. This season he played pretty horribly in about 1/2 the games. We wouldnt even be 5-10 if he had stayed and played that way here. Not to mention we wouldnt even have Portis either.
cphil006
If we lose, our opp. win percentage would be higher. If we win it would drop. Hopefully, the other 5-10 teams win next week.

Our "GM' Vinny Cerrato sucks, LA & Samuels were obvious picks and they both seem overrated according to many people. Champ Bailey gets burned on a regualr basis and is overrated. Sean Taylor was picked by Gibbs and Williams. Cerrato wanted Winslow. Where is the diamond in the rough. Where is a hidden gem? We need a GM to find these. Vinny Cerrato sucks.
