Buddha has discovered the Holy Grail!

I now have my very own copy of the 2001 Lindy's, care of the local Kroger. The player evaluation for Rod Gardner cracks me up...<br /><br />"Another WR who drops too many because he doesn't concentrate enough on the ball...Has nice hands otherwise..."<br /> <br /> [ January 25, 2002: Message edited by: Die Hard ]

Buy any groceries? I bought Ketchup when I got Athlon and SPagetti when I got Lindy's.

I figure the rest of the mags, I should be able to find faster at my local newstand.

My holy grail among the preview mags is: The Sporting News. They did a great job with the College Preview this year. Should be able to buy that around the 4th.

Now don't tell me.......the mag says that Kenyatta Walker is an instant star and the Bucs are going to the Super Bowl laugh.gif

Also the Jets are probably going to get credit for "gambling" on Santana Moss at #16 and there will be the obligatory mentions about what he will mean to the punt return game.

Am I correct? smile.gif

I love a good preview magazine as much as the next guy. But, seriously, any publication that questions Gardner's catching skills must not be aware of who they are referencing. By all accounts, the greatest talent Gardner had was his "Cris Carter" catching skills. The ability to catch the ball in traffic. If he didn't have that ability, with a known weakness in getting separation, he'd have been a seventh round pick.

I usually don't pick up the Athlon's and Londy's mags until August when I go down to the beach for a week. Great beach reading and it's a couple of weeks before fantasy football draft day.

I dare say most of the preview mags' writers are no more knowledgable than a lot of the regulars on this board ... certainly where the Redskins are concerned. Any predictions now, before rosters are set and training has started is just silly (but fun!) So, do we learn anything from them? No.

And yet I can't help myself from buying a minimum of 2 or 3 every year. It's part of my "getting ready for football" routine I guess. I've always been partial to Streets & Smiths and TSN, though TSN's curious love affair with the Lions over the last couple of years makes me wonder about those guys.

This years' mags could be keepers if for no other reason than the plentiful negative things they will surely write about the Cowboys. biggrin.gif
