bulldog
I am really LMAO now. Get a load of this fantasy jive from Jerry Jones from ESPN:

Jerry Jones predicted that the Cowboys would win 10 games this year and make the playoffs. That isn't likely to happen, but they could be well positioned to make a run in 2002. Over the offseason the Cowboys parted ways with a number of high salaries -- Troy Aikman (released, retired), cornerback Ryan McNeil (released), offensive tackle Erik Williams (released) and defensive tackle Chad Hennings (released). The Cowboys should have plenty of cap room available to go after free agents next offseason.

This offseason, the biggest addition was quarterback Tony Banks. Unsuccessful in St. Louis and Baltimore, the Cowboys hope they can be the ones to harness Banks' considerable talent. If they can, they may have found a solid NFL quarterback. If they can't, they'll get the same inconsistent play that drove Banks out of St. Louis and Baltimore.

The Cowboys could get a big boost by the healthy returns of wide receivers Joey Galloway and Raghib Ismail, who both suffered season-ending knee injuries last season. If Banks fails in Dallas, it won't be because he doesn't have anyone to throw the ball to.

[ January 25, 2002: Message edited by: Die Hard ]

Kevin West
Jones is trying everything he can to sell tickets. Since the announcement of Troy Aikman's retirement, Cowboy season ticket sales are charting like last year's NASDAQ. They are also letting it be known that there is a real possibilty that home games will be blacked out in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area this year. It's such a shame that Jerry can't use some of that $23 Million in dead cap space to buy his own tickets.
Buddha
This is why Jerrah is all into puffery these days... http://espn.go.com/nfl/news/2001/0611/1212660.html

88Comrade2000
Just wait until next year. With his cap situation easier, he will spend money in free agency and waste more dollars and cause more harm to Dallas. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. The Boys have to do what we are slowly doing. Build the core of the team thru the draft. Since Jerry's seems to forget how Jimmy did it, the Boys should be cellear dwellers for a long time. I bet you if we cut Jeff George in 2002, like we probably will. He will be a Cowboy in 2002.
bulldog
Jerry Jones is descending into George Steinbrenner, mid-1980's territory. Dan Snyder as a rich owner throwing around the cash? How about Jones? Deion is still on his cap. $12 million for Joey Galloway, a receiver who has never made the Pro Bowl in his seven year career? Tony Banks who has more fumbles than touchdown passes as an NFL quarterback? This is beginning to remind me of all those Danny Tartabull type deals George negotiated in the 1980's when the Yankees were a perennial disappointment. Thank God for them he was suspended from baseball for a few years so the front office could assemble a team and let Joe Torre take them to the World Series. bulldog
"harnessing his undeniable talent"........... man, am I sick and tired of hearing about Tony Banks' potential as a quarterback. This guy has been sucking down decent money for the past several years imitating a starting quarterback in the NFL. Think Jake Plummer has had problems recently? Banks has almost as many career fumbles as touchdown passes and led Baltimore to an average of 9.5 points per game on offense last year until Dilfer took over. the most memorable thing I remember about Banks was when he was suspended by Dick Vermeil for bringing his retriever to room with him in training camp in St. Louis!
