Potential danger of not cutting Deion.......

I know everyone is sick of hearing about Peion, but this post is relevent, and legitimately so. Does anyone think that if we let the Deion feud drag on, that it could become a distraction to the rest of the team ? Could it do more harm than good, to play the waiting game ? If it gets real ugly, could it possibly risk damage to the unity and chemistry we have among the currently upstanding citizens on this unit ? Or will they stand up to the task and let it blow by them and stay focused on the job at hand ?

[ by Mick on June 06, 2001.]

[ January 25, 2002: Message edited by: Die Hard ]

Nope not a team chemistry problem or distraction at all.

Deion will just have to wear earplugs or listen to his weak album on headphones to drown out The Millions and Millions of Skins fans on his a$$ every game/play until we cut him next june. I want us to keep him on the roster to show the other prima donnas what can happen when you think you are bigger than the team (Hello Moss, KeyChain)

Yes I'm paid to think and I need a raise

If Deion continues to fail in baseball, there will be a dramatic role reversal. Instead of being the con man who fleeced Danny, he will represent the guy who couldn't shake Marty. Rather than a distraction, he will be a lesson for his peers to focucs upon.

hi mick,

i was hoping we'd be done with sanders by now and bringing in some other players. deion is a high profile player and this will draw alot of attention. i don't think it'll affect the team unless sanders is forced into camp, something he clearly doesn't want to do! trust me,that'd be a huge distraction. the team's identity would become a fresh pile of peanutty deionsmile.gif i'd tend to view that as being a high-maintenance situation that shottenheimer would have to extinguish daily!

i only like football. i'm not interested in seeing the skins try to humiliate deion because the boy king burned up the batteries of his new toy! if deion humiliates himself, that's a reflection of deion. if the redskins humiliate deion, that's a reflection of the redskins. but i don't think this is about that anyhow. it seem's the players support marty's move. they're certainly not coming to deion's defense. how ironic, considering his "alledged" presence in the lockerroom. cha!

as of right now,i only see deion being cut. i haven't read anything anywhere that convinces me that we're going to get some cap relief from him, which is our only angle in all this,IMO. should we force him to camp,he's just going to waltz thru the motions til he's cut. deion knows what he's doing. he won't be in breach of contract. there's no way we're going to benefit from keeping him on the team! this guy is no football player.

thing is,as others have pointed out,it doesn't make any sense to cut him right now. any of us can mention marginal players that would help the skins, but those type can be found most anytime. we need to find some players that make sense before we roll belly-up deion. i dunno me

If we do work it out whereby we keep Deion and he comes to camp (I'd say there's maybe a 10% to 20% chance of that), then I think Marty will have his attitude adjusted before he shows up.

There'll likely be some kind of kiss and make up session that occurs for media consumption, something along the lines that Boswell mentioned yesterday.

I think it's more likely that we negotiate a release for Deion whereby we get back around half of the bonus, but if not, and Deion comes back to play, then it'll be resolved before he ever sets foot in Carlisle. I can't see Marty allowing it to be a distraction.
