Two Observations About MNF

After watching that game tonight between Philly and Minnesota, I realized two things.

1. I'm VERY glad I'm not a Vikings fan. Rarely have I seen a team shoot themselves in the foot at their opponent's end of the field as the Vikes did tonight. It was unreal and very frustrating to watch.

2. Philly is still the team to beat, hands down. They are a very good football team fundamentally. They don't make mistakes too often, and when they do they make it up with good play a some good luck (which seems to follow good teams). They tackled very well tonight. Their defense controlled and dictated the tempo of the game. They are a sound team that will give us trouble. McNabb still has good legs and will be trouble, and Owens, as much as I can't stand the guy, is a very dangerous WR. (I sure wish his non-TD didn't count.) We'll find out what we are made of when we meet them.

I believe that this analysis quite nicely sums up the plight of the Vikings fan from time immemorial. :)

nice observations however,

The vikings did have a huge night on offense. They culminated 400+ yards on offense, however their defense was being picked at by Mcnabb and their running back and the Vikings front four rarely created pressure that was substantial for Mcnabb and the eagles.

Daunte Fumbled and their O-Lineman had a horrible hold on the TD run by their QB.

Overall, Culpepper looked very comfortable in the pocket and seems totally insync with the offense.

Vikings fans shouldn't walk with their heads down, they are going to the playoffs this season and will face Philly again, I just wish they kicked the cr*p outta the eagles so everybody in our division would be 1-1.

I agree. Culpepper can make some amazing moves for being 264 pounds. He's a great athlete and person. Of course, I'm a bit biased because he graduated from my high school in Ocala, Florida. :D

Yeah, geez, I thought I'd turned on a replay of yesterday's game.

:D

Eagles looked pretty good, though. They are certainly still the team to beat in the division.

Unless you're a Redskins fan who watched the same damn thing yesterday. No doubt we'll turn it around, however it made me laugh when I read this.

The story that probably WON'T be written about the Eagles in the papers tonight/tomorrow is the fact that the Vikings pretty much marched up and down the field at will, but made mistakes in the red zone virtually on every posession. Now I know I am a Skins fan and I will tend to find the negatives in other NFC East fans, but seriously, the way the Eagles D played tonight gets a free pass in the regular season as long as they still win, but that soft defense is another big reason the Eagles lost in the NFC-C last season and if it isn't shored up, history shall repeat itself.....:)

They played a specific defense because they were against the Vikings. I believe it was called "hold them to a FG every time" and it worked. :D I doubt you'll see the same type of prevent defense against any other team. I thought it was the perfect D against Minnesota.

Yes,

The Eagles are 2-0... (Congrats you beat 1 really good team, and 1 really bad team- that should be 0-2 if it wasn't for big mistakes on our part)

The Eagles are 2-0 at home

The Eagles do look dominant (and they should), but the lingering question has to be...can they keep it up, what will happen if they lose a game or two? Who will TO start pointing fingers at (McNabb, Reid, the defense) if they do start to lose?

And can they beat their opponent in the NFCC game.

So far, they do look like the best team in the NFC, but it's early.....

They must have played the same defense against the Giants as well, because they moved the ball well against them.

Yeah, the key word is "seen." I missed the 'Skins game as I was travelling on the road w/my family back from a weekend trip. If it was as bad as the Vikes game, or worse, I'm glad I missed it.

Because in the NFL any team can win, playoff or non-playoff, if you don't play solid fundamental football week in and week out (see "Redskins at Giants," wk 2, 2004 season ). Many think the Vikes are a playoff caliber team. I thought they looked outstanding between the 20s last night. They just had too many dumb penalties or turnovers once they got in scoring position.

I know what you mean, but Culpepper was a HUGE reason why that happened. Any less mobile QB would have been on his seat about 4 or 5 times last night. Maybe more. Culpepper kept drives alive.

It was interesting to see Kearse in the LB position so much spying Culpepper. His speed allows him to do that.

No, the Giants didn't. Over 1/3 the Giants yards came within the last 4 minutes of the game when it was already over.

They started to have more success in the second half moving the ball, that much is obvious. I guess they were just warming up their bend but don't break style for the Vikings.

Hey we're normally on the same page but, they beat:

the Giants first of all - who we self destructed against - and quite possible had the worst loss since a 40-0 drubbing from Dallas.

The Vikings who have been picked by some to be a great team this year. I think if they had Michael Bennett last night it would have been a little different. Adn what with no trying a couple of long jump balls to Moss??????

We beat Tampa who obviously cannot score against anyone, and got our asses handed to us in a game that should have been 40-17.

Philly is scary good right now, but thats why they say on any given sunday because I'll tell you if Westbrook, Ownes, McNabb, Dawkins goes down - that entire team will fell it !!
