Here we go....

I'm not crazy about Marty because that offense is so utterly pathetic, but, damn if this team hasn't taken his personality and it is actually ejoyable watching this team fight. I don't think I've seen a Redskin team with this type of grit in years, if ever.

Despite lackluster playcalling, this team got it done. Banks made a couple of nice throws and an audible that appeared to even work. This game does solidify where Marty is as a coach. He deserves to be brought back. He can't allow the offense to be this bad next year, and he has to address that, but, this team has fought for Marty and when you get a team doing that, it's really nice to see.

However it ends up, and we'll know soon, I'll overall give Marty credit for getting this team to fight when there was nothing to fight for. I think we could do a bit more damage with a bit more thought given the offense, but, this team is a dangerous team, even with Banks at QB. Without him, it might very well be a contending team.

Congrats to the NFC's leading rusher. Stephen Davis is a wonderful weapon to have and he deserved a trip to the Pro Bowl.

Amen, Art. Dump Raye, replace Banks, and we're halfway to being a serious Super Bowl contender I think. I just hope Snyder doesn't overmanage this situation and blow things for everybody.

Your right, Art, here we go. I've seen Danny in action with people he doesn't want around any longer. If you recall, my Mom worked for the Skins and Mr Cooke for 15 years. When Danny came on board, he sent all the employees a letter saying basically, "Don't worry, be happy. You all will have jobs." Quite like he is doing now with Shotty. Then, BOOM, everyone is in the unemployment line, quite like what I predict will happen to Shotty this coming week. It's a crappy way to deal with people, IMHO. Yeah, the writing is on the wall. I still don't think Danny has gotten over his fascination with big names, and I don't think he'll blink an eye about canning Shottenheimer and hiring Spurrier, if he can. I, like you, like the way that this teams personnality has been transformed this year. They fight, and they smash people in the mouth. Shotty and Arrington's personalities are rubbing off,and I would like to see what he could do with another year. What scares me is Shotty's insistance that he would not change any of his staff. Let's face it, this offense SUCKS. We ran better schemes than this in high school twenty years ago. Raye needs to go back to AAA high or wherever it is he came from, and he can take Banks with him. I was sorry to see the guy get hurt, but he's gotta be the sorriest QB we have had since Kilmer. Not that that was Shotty's fault, being saddled with a piece of chit like George. Anyway, look for Spurrier next week. If it is not already done, it will be. The writing is on the wall.

This game just made me think more than ever that if this team had a little better QB play, they would be in the playoffs.

Admittedly, I wasn't able to start watching the game until just before halftime, but I saw enough. I agree that the play calling was predictable and lackluster. But, as usual, Banks either misfired or refused to pull the trigger when a play was there to be made. The underthrown pass to Gardner behind the defender comes to mind. So does an incomplete pass on third down to Westbrook. Westbrook broke into the clear, raised his hand, which is the universal sign to throw it long over the top, and Banks promptly threw the ball low and inside into the ground to try and pick up the first down. There was another example where Bank held on to the ball way too long, tucked the ball and ran for about 4 yards. The replay showed three different receivers, none wide open, but all were completable passes if Banks had just pull the trigger and zipped the ball right into the receiver's gut.

Again, this has been the most frustrating thing about this offense. It's just simply NOT a matter of Banks not being familiar with the offense. Even with the conservative playcalling, plays have been there to be made. It's basic quarterbacking stuff. Anybody think that Trent Dilfer, Jay Fiedler, or Jim Miller wouldn't know what to do when Westbrook raises that hand and there's no safety help?

Now, I realize this could have been a playoff team, but I also know they are a few more players away from title contending. Despite the horrendous start, I believe Marty has the team headed in the right direction. Like Art said, this team fights. There is some momentum heading into the offseason.

P.S. Props to Dan Wilkenson. I've never seen a defender get a sack without even using his arms!
