inmate running the asylum
Take notice ParkCitySkins:  Not only have I got another Rod Gardner trade scenario, but reportedly the Skins are now interested in RB Anthony Thomas with Ogun's name appearing for honorable mention. http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm 'SKINS SCRAMBLE TO REPLACE PORTIS? For roughly five minutes on Thursday afternoon, CBS SportsLine.com was reporting that Redskins running back had suffered a serious injury while lifting weights. Now, the site has a full-blown retraction of the story, with all appropriate apologies. "It was egregious and, frankly, unforgivable, and we apologize to our readers, Portis and to the Redskins for publishing the misinformation," says the mea culpa posting from managing editor Mark Swanson. But we're picking up indications that the story might not be off the mark, and that there have been talks between the Bears and the Redskins about a possible trade for Bears running back Anthony Thomas. The Bears, we're told, are trying to get a second-round pick or a receiver (possibly Rod Gardner, who supposedly was shopped to the Fins as part of the Adewale Ogunleye package last month). Stay tuned on this. We're trying to figure out what's happening here.

PCS
Oh yeah. I'm going to take notice of PFT. Uh . Len P may be better than them at this stuff...
Truant
That's total BS. They are taking Lenny's cheat sheet and the fake Portis injury to make this article. Cut and paste... sports journalism at its best.
bubba9497
PFT? PLEASE stop posting rumors from that rag sheet. I have more insider info
TC4
inmate..... ......you must have missed this on the Pro Football rumor page that they posted nine minutes later just above what you have there: http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm POSTED 7:32 p.m. EDT, September 9, 2004 PORTIS NOT HURT We've just learned from a league source that Redskins running back Clinton Portis is not -- we repeat -- is not injured. However, we've also learned that Bears G.M. Jerry Angelo learned of the erroneous CBS report that Portis had suffered a serious injury while lifting weights on Thursday, prompting Angelo to upgrade Bears running back Anthony Thomas from "questionable" to "probable" on the injury list -- and to call the Redskins with a specific trade offer involving the A-Train. Bottom line -- Portis is okay, Angelo is pissed, and Thomas still is, and likely will be, a Bear.
Tarhog
Thats nice to know, but it hardly excuses posting tripe from the get-go. PFW can kiss my bare white ***. By the way, I found the weapons of mass destruction. PFW will be reporting on my find any minute now
spanishomelette
PFT will now be referred to as pffft. Perhaps that's why the Gardner trade rumor first began because of the fake Portis story.

SlinginSammy HOF '63
I honestly wouldn't mind having A-Train as a second option, but not at the expense of our #2 receiver.
method man
lol would rod gardner for a-train be fair anyway? at best, a-train is a marginal starting back that will be a FA this offseason anyway
SlinginSammy HOF '63
I don't think it would be. Maybe we could get him for a couple of McDonalds gift certificate booklets.
Danny Montana
No way would I deal Gardner for A-Train. I'm all for moving Rod and/or picks for a DE like Howard, but not some marginal RB.
