Matador36
Are they old, young, injured? what's their story? Can they stop our #56 and #53? :wewantd:
Mickalino
They're good, but virtyally their whole starting line was banged up this preseason, and hasn't played much together
bubba9497
I thought they replace all but one starter this year :whoknows:
Mickalino
Left tackle Derrick Deese, 34, missed all but the last preseason game because of a foot problem that required surgery. Right tackle Todd Steussie (33, sore knee), also missed preseason time. And so did 27- year-old guard Matt Stinchcomb (calf strain), and tackle Kenyatta Walker (knee), 25. Kilmer17
They're not good at all. Dont know where you heard that or what you saw to make you think that. They're very bad right now.

Mr. S
their line is mainly proven veterans with lotsa experience, they just seem a bit old and still havent seemed to gel.

@DCGoldPants
I think the key is to get into Brad's face while covering the RB's and TE's. That's his bread and butter. Let our CB's cover their WR's on Man to Man. Then keep a LB on their TE. Blitz Matt Bowen a lot, leaving Sean Taylor back there as a safety net. He's got better closing speed if they can complete something to an open guy.
sean42
Originally posted by Mr. S their line is mainly proven veterans with lotsa experience, they just seem a bit old and still havent seemed to gel. this is accurate. Derrick Deese hasnt given up a sack in over 2 seasons but was banged up duringTC and the preseason. Steussie was hhorrible at LT last season against the speed rushers, but has looked good at RT for us, where he is able use his strngth and power against slower DEs who also play more of the power game, which feeds right ino Steussies strenths. C, John Wad is our ony returning starter and is an above average player. Cosey Coleman is our RG and has also looked strong, but he is overall a mediocre player with a lot of upside and experience at his very young age. Matt Stinchcomb is our LG, he is an aggressive, mean, tough player, but is not great by any stretch, another meocre player. We have a lot of talent this year but lucky for Washington the OL still needs time o gel into a cohesive unit, as we had 3 starters out all of the preseason. its funny how you guys are so excited for your DL. Our OL may not be great and may need time to gel, but boy am I happy we are facing Washingtons front 7 to start the year.

Yeah you keep thinking that Sean42. Front 7 includes linebackers and I'm pretty sure Lavar and Mr. Washington will be introducing Brad to the ground early and often. I fully expect our pass rush to force many a bad throw from Johnson, as Williams will really put the heat on him.
carlsbadd
Thanks for the input sean42, it's good to have a rival fan that lets us know the story. Our front seven does need to prove itself and untill it does we will reamin a question mark there. Expect heavy rotation there as well as the linebackers coming on blitzes. Brad Johnson may have some luck exploiting the middle for short yards but beware of Taylor at saftey, the kid has great closing speed and good hands. Looks to be a great battle. Don't expect that Rice will have the kind of field day he had last year, our O line will be much better than people expect.

Johnson doesn't have the mobility to avoid the rush, and he won't know where it's coming from....doesn't have the arm to challenge our DBs. Especially with the dead ducks Johnson has a tendency to throw. I fully expect our pass rush to force many a bad throw from Johnson, as Williams will really put the heat on him. Also correct. While I fully expect Sean Taylor to set the NFL on fire from day 1 no matter who we play, I think he could have 2-3 interceptions against Brad. Seriously. Brad does throw ducks. He didn't have an arm before, and what he did have is shot. And Brad has never seen anyone who can cover the field like Sean Taylor. If we take away Brad's safety valves (Captain Checkdown) and dare Brad to beat us in the air, I don't think the Bucs have any chance to move the ball. Brad is immobile and has no arm and Greg Williams will take those things away from Brad.

CMonster
Anything is better than the skins front 4 Unfortunately for you, they are just dummies who move in coordinated directions to open up holes for Lavar and Marcus Washington to run through. Brad Johnson vs a Greg Williams defense is simply a bad match-up for the Bucs. The Chris Simms watch has begun. BTW, Gruden is just the latest example that most of the time a coach can't be the GM. He's a great offensive mind and a great motivator but a horrendous judge of talent and chemistry.
Oldskool
Normally their front 5 is a good squad and well coached but not right now. They did have a high turnover of players this offseason (4 of 5 new starters) and the line is banged up. Their O line banged up vs. our so-so D line should be an interesting matchup. Look for Gruden to play two back sets (like the WCO originally did) to pass block and to catch balls out on the flats.

No boasting, just think we will match up well on both sides of the ball. :poke: :jump:   :jump:
