QBkilla56
So that means he "could" start against the bucs.
Stone Cold
but do we really want him getting his first reps in real time? yes, pierce has looked good, no, he is not barrow, but he has the reps with the first team. barrow is a vet, but maybe he needs some time
Tdog56Skins
I hope he plays in week 1, after all he hasnt played at all in preseason.

While Pierce has done an outstanding job this preseason, and I really like him, he's a back up while Barrow is a pro-bowler. I think that you have to go with Barrow if he can go, and have Pierce there to come in if needed.
Mr. S
id prolly hold him out for a week to prevent anything from getting aggrivated. I want him to come in by week 2 though.
Mickalino
Regardless of who starts, I think we know who the Bucs are going to be testing on Sunday.

vnmenon1
I think whenever we have a safe lead we should put in pierce and take him out... that way we can keep him fresh in the long run... Assuming of course he gets healthy

scottb
Has Barrow even practiced much the preseason? Does he have a good grasp of Williams' defense? I'm not sure he should start even if he's healthy.
yankstrat
Barrow knows Williams' Defense from their Titans days together. I feel he is more than capable of stepping right in despite missing preseason. If healthy, it should be Barrow. At least he is participating in drills...sounds like he is getting close
jimster
they should start him off sparingly in week one and gradually give him a little more work in week 2 and unleash him in week

charleytaylorreview
I think the coaches will leave Pierce in the starting line-up for the first two games to work Barrow slowly into game speed and to keep the chemistry of the defense. Yes, Barrow is an all-pro, but if it ain't broke, there is nothing to fix. :point2sky
Mickalino
Originally posted by jrfriedm Well, I'm interested in who you think the Bucs will test early. Well, Pierce is adjusting to a new position, and he's somewhat inexperienced, while Barrow would be fragile and rusty.
thinker
Barrow has been participating in drills for a while - no pads, no hitting, no real running. On last Thursday, when asked if he was saving himself for TB - he said I'm not holding myself back from anything - I'm injured. He hasn't really done anything for about a month, no one has given any indication that anyone has any idea when OR if he is going to get better. Tendinitis isn't necessarily something that goes away or if it does it could come right back if he plays on it. The team's lack of confidence in Barrow's health is reflected in their keeping Clifton Smith on the roster over guys like Bauman, Rufus Brown, Sultan, etc. People need to begin to consider the possibility that Barrow may not play for a while - if at all. Riggo-toni
Anyone else think Barrow wins this year's Santana Dotson award for recently signed vet whose career ends here before making anysignificant contribution? (Last year's winner was Dave Fiore.)
KingGibbs
The release of C. Smith affects our depth at MLB. I still see Barrow hitting the IR.

SlobberKnockinFootball
I look at it this way... If he's 100% come Sunday. You start him. If he's anything less than that. He sits out a week. This would be a different scenario if he actually got some playing time during the pre-season. But the fact is, he hasn't had any playing time and you don't want to risk him aggravating this injury again. So I'd say nothing less than 100%. I'd rather have him in Dec/Jan than Sept.
