Guest Karl Malone
Karl Malone wants to know why Spurrier is supposedly callin the shots, in this draft-trade for Stephen Davis. Karl Malone is thinkin that Spurrier is the coach, and he agreed to let the GM's handle that duty. Karl Malone don't understand why Spurrier has the freedom to make such a silly trade, when that's what Mendes and Cerrato are here for. Somebody help Karl Malone out. RF4L
RF4L is wondering if Karl Malone is closely related to Smoot21 with this distinctive writing style.

As far as the question, what started out as rumor and conjecture is now the gospel? I didn't hear that the Davis trade is actually going to happen.

I would imagine that any trades that do happen will the product of discussion and consensus, geared towards getting the ballclub "to the next level".
bulldog
anyone who bought the rap that Spurrier was going to come in here for $25 million and then sit back and wait for Mendes and Cerrato to evaluate his needs for him is crazy.

Spurrier is going to seek advice from his front office and DC on who to bring in on that side of the ball, but on offense you can bet he is going to be calling the shots.

It will be Steve's choice of qb, rb, wr and ol.

To me the only untouchables are Jansen and Samuels.

Other than that we could see any other players traded, released or whatever.

The interesting question is whether Spurrier decides to work with Rod Gardner or decides he is not a good fit and opts to deal him to another team.

Remember that Gardner was not a favorite choice of Snyder and his organizational protector, Marty Schottenheimer, is gone.

Perhaps the Skins deal Gardner to SD where incumbents Conway and Graham are both 32 and fading? Zen-like Todd
...or, do a straight up trade, Moss for Gardner The Jets have too many midget receivers. That would also free up the spot that Metcalf is taking on the roster.
NavyDave
Karl Malone didnt I see you on the ManShow talking about shooting squirrels the other night?

Why the heck should we trade a strong 300 lb plus bench pressing Wideout for a fragile lil receiver?

I only recall him doing special team only this year so I guess we want another Desmond Howard which there are plenty of in this draft. Brave
TCO - You are usually such a rational chap. What is this fixation with Moss? Furthermore, what's your problem with Gardner? I wouldn't trade them straight up any more than I'd cheer Dallas on in the Super Bowl.

Silliness.
Zen-like Todd
I'm sorry, you guys have probably noticed I havent been responding to many retorts lately, and its not because I dont have anything to say, it's just that I'm waaay busy, balancing work and school right now. I still havent found time to get back to that main Gardner/Moss thread...

In any event, I don't like Gardner because he doesnt seem very smart, runs sloppy routes, and dropped a TON of balls. Spurrier likes quick guys who run great routes and have good hands, as do I.

http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl/draft/players/17.html

Moss was hurt, and that is the main reason he didnt get on the field. In any event, this is one of those things we'll look back at in 5 years and either say "damn that guy was an idiot", or "Hmm... he really IS the chosen one"
Guest Karl Malone
Karl Malone is disappointed with Navy Dave. Apparently Navy Dave hasnt seen Karl Malone's Man Show bit for several weels, if the last one Navy remembers was Karl Malone's bit about the squirrel. If Navy would have seen Karl Malone this week, Navy would have heard Karl Malone axe the question, "Why does Chinese folk cross the Pacific and come all the way to Karl Malone country, just to open Dry Cleaner store ?"

[ January 29, 2002: Message edited by: Karl Malone ]
