golfgram
When Rock was 240, he was our natural short yardage back. Now what do we do in short yardage? I think Rock, Sultan, and Simon may all get cut, althouhg Rock and Simon are good on Special Teams. Is Stacey Mack really a potential short yardage answer? With Portis's and Bett's injury histories, can we afford to cut both Rock and Simon? I think we need Portis, Betts, and a short yardage/utility back. I would keep Simon b/c he is a bit more dynamic than Sultan and Rock, but I would really prefer a bruiser but am not sure if Stacey Mack is the answer. I think Rock and Sultan are toast, but with Morton as a 3rd down back I am not sure we need Simon either.
I.M. Fletch
Right now, I do not believe the Redskins have a suitable short yardage back. I think they should bring in Stacey Mack or James Stewart. Both of them are big backs and will accept backup roles. Joe Gibbs absolutely needs a big back period. Portis will be great, but they are going to have to spell him or either shorten his career by 4 years. I really do not like the overall RB situation right now. They are all talented, but they aren't the right combination I don't think. But I could be wrong.
mad4comp
just get rock 3 slices of pizza in the morning, Mcd's for lunch, and mexican for dinner for the next two weeks. And cut down on the exercise, wait two weeks and BAM! you got a third down back
terpfan
I don't think we necessarily need a goalline back. Portis can get the job done. We just need a guy capable of spelling him every once in a while. I have faith that Betts can be that guy.
mad4comp
just use portis as a thrid down back for the first 2-3 games, and just stuff rock with food.

laurent
I think you stick with the guy that got you down there. Having Portis in the backfield opens a number of options. With his speed he's a threat on pitches to the outside but he's also got enough athleticism to take it in over the top.
c4man5282
I personally think if they NEED to take portis out betts will be the best person to put in there and power through there. Why do you think they kept him after only playing one or two plays the other night. B/c he is quick and he hits the holes and he'll lay a shoulder into you if he has to, plus he'll try and get as much as he can out of a play. Even though he was stopped the other night by the rams de he still tried to jump and get that extra yard.
bulldog
right now it is Brunell on a bootleg seriously, if Betts is healthy I think he is the guy. If not I think the Skins will look to add a vet. Mack may very well have been added if he had shown up in shape and ready to play. Instead he was far from being in football shape. worm
Either Portis over the top or Brunell behind the Dirtbags..
