BG
Game 1 will get rediculously loud with the return of Joe and the season tx. holders back in the seats and pumped up. Game threee will be flat out mayhem. If it isn't, then we are a bunch of pansy fans....

Funkyalligator
A great deal of the problem is acoustics.....my friend that runs the sound booth said they used to pump crowd noise around the stadium in the early days of FEDEX but that the acoustics just aren't the same as RFK....he did admit that the tech game was real loud and that perhaps the stadium has turned a corner because they did some remodeling this past summer and also improved the sound systems........ Noone is going to stand up and be loud if the team is losing as in the recent past. Game 3 should be over the top as far as noise level.
GSF
First of all, Doc started and was a big contributor in Gibbs early years so to call him a benchwarmer is just ignorant. The man has certainly earned the right to voice his opinions on anything Skins related. You may not agree with everything he says, I know I don't, but show some respect. If you look at how the crowds have been at Fedex in recent seasons, Doc's comments are right on the money. Sure some of that is due to losing and Fedex's carnival like athmosphere, but none the less, it's been like a freakin library in there, and that's shameful. I don't blame Doc for trying to drum up some support for Gibbs. I wonder myself how long it will take a lot of impatient Skins fans to turn on Gibbs when we're not undefeated. This debate is all about to be irrelevant though, b/c I guarantee Fedex will be rockin this season. Ticket holders that had a hard time watching the Skins suck and sold their tix will be back in the stands this season. The MNF game against Dallas will be insane. I can't wait. Hmm, well according to the beloved Frank Herzog, FedEx was built & designed specifically to be louder than RFK. Now, maybe your friend has a point to some extent. But filtering sound thru speakers & generating soundin the stands are 2 totally different things. I don't ever recall RFK NEEDING to recreate crowd noise to pump the crowd up. The crowd was always there & always loud. FedEx was built on the premise that the crowd would always be there & would always be loud & NOT needing crowd noise pumped thru speakers...just a thought. DUSTINMFOX
I'm confident in my brethren..... Why is everybody so uptight? We're on extremeskins here people; we don't need to defend ourselves...we're all super fans. I also tend to disagree w/the assesment that RFK had more of a "blue collar" crowd. This was "THE" ticket in Washington in the 80's...everyone who was anyone was there. I used to love how how my Dad would tell me to turn around and see who was in Cooke's box... Here is the main difference between RFK and Fedex. Seating Capacity - 92,000 is not 55,000; People don't need to kill for tickets like they did back then. Along with what another poster said...the stadium does have a "date" atomosphere. I haven't seen a game yet where you couldn't get near face value price on a scalped ticket.....try that at RFK

TerpsEagles
I've been to a lot of games at FedEx..... the first one, yeah, the music blasting during the game really caught me off guard .... a bunch of people have mentioned the Monday nighter vs. Philly during Spurriers first year.... completely agree.... was the best atmosphere and buzz i've felt in that stadium bar none.... your fans were really into it and the place was rocking at the start.... i think w/ Gibbs back... if you all come out of the gate fairly well it certainly should start getting back to what you want.... I hope so for you all..... even as an Eagles fan I much more enjoy the games when the crowd is loud and into the game..... RFK used rock .... as for keeping us Eagles fans out..... all i can say is tell your friends that have season tix to stop putting them on eBay .... (although I do have mine for 12/12) peace

MonkeySkin
I agree with what Doc said. But I have always thought that it does have something to do with all the people in this area from outside of here, who go for the other team. Lot's of Eagles, Giants, Steelers, and Cowgirls fans around here that some how get tickets. I remember I used to work with a Cowgirls fan that was a season ticket holder to the skins. I asked him why the heck he has season tickets to the Skins, and he said just to watch them loose... I also think there's a lot of uptight people in this area, and that has a lot to do with it too. But the average fan in the stands was more of the blue collar type. I have the same experience as others on this board - FedEx - told by folks behind me to sit down because I'm blocking the game. Feel like everyone is looking at ya kind of funny when you actually cheer (God forbid). RFK - Actually spent one game on my feet the entire time (along with everyone else in the section). Never went to a game that wasn't LOUD. I went to the NFC Championship Game against the Lions at RFK...I think my ears were still ringing a week later. It'll be loud this year at Fed Ex...hopefully as loud as RFK was...

That is exactly how i get tix to see the Skins at away games. I have been to a few away games where there were tons of Skins fans, and I would hate to not be able to get tix to away games. It's not the seller's fault that the Skins fans don't buy up the tix.

WilberMarshall
I have addressed this same issue in a different thread... Doc is right! On my part, I have sworn to make life miserable for the Wine and Cheesers this year.... I have even written to the SKINS advising them to instruct their ushers not to be quick in ushering out SKINS fans out of their seats simply because some STUFFED shirt doesn't appreciate good ol fashioned cheering... I plan to make it so loud around my section that the Cheesers would rather stay home than come to the stadium... I will like to see more Skins highlights during games... more fan participation i.e. prices for the rowdiest section (free pizza or something..I personally don't need such motivation to cheer my SKINS... I am a fan... yeah, A FANATIC!)... wouldn't cost them a thing... Turning off the TV in the club section (like Doc suggested)... open up the club section early so that if the Cheesers want to mingle they can do so before the game... Fill the empty (club) seats with anyone who is still around the stadium by the beginning of the 3rd quarter... And like Al would say... "Just Win Baby"!!! MonkeySkin
People get on people who want to burn jerseys and do crazy stuff at the games, but I think we need it. As long as they're not causing harm to anybody else, who cares. I wouldn't mind it cause I don't look down at people and judge them like a lot of people. At a Cowobys game four years ago..my friend pointed out that some guys where getting ready to burn a Aikman jersey. They hung it on a branch and of course (like a drunk idiot) I went over there & joined in. They were having a hard time getting it lit & as I went to light it, some guy came behind me w/ lighter fluid....BURNED THE HELL OUT OF ME! Come by the shop and I'll show you the scars one time. Very embarrsing to tell people...
RedskinsNation
What sux this year is that everyone thinks that the place will be all Skins fans because Gibbs is back. Think about this though - this is the year where one could get the MOST value for selling a ticket. And w/ GB & Balt. etc.. coming in to town, their fans are gonna be willing to pay much larger amounts of money because its a rare occasion for their teams to travel to FEDEX. If you could post your tix on ebay last year for $100 or so a game, you could easily double that or triple that w/Gibbs on the sidelines alone. I think alot of season ticket holders went "cha-ching $$$$$" when Gibbs announced he was coming back. They knew that their tickets were gonna triple in value (especially vs. teams like the Ravens/Packers/Vikings coming to town. Bottom line: Get ready to see Gibbs on the sidelines. Get ready to see alot of Packer green and Raven/Viking purple in the stands. Not to mention the usual opposing teams fans in the game.
