Hey guys I have a 2000 word term paper to write. I need to cover 3 main topics along with some opinion questions. I'm Finding a bunch of good stuff but I'm just wondering if anyone knows off hand any good medical sites I could use to help out. Thanks......

1- Explain how ADHD is diagnosed

2- Explain how it operates

3- Identify potential side effects and long term risks

4, & 5 are opinion questions

I'm a psychologist and have a paper that I can give you which has info about the pharmacotherapy of ADHD. Give me your email and I'll send it to you. I can see if I have anything else. I can also give you the DSM-IV criteria for diagnosis if you want.

Go to your local Mental Health Clinic and you should be able to get alot of info.

If you go to college - library resources for this topic are very easy to find. Medical or Psychology journals are helpful. Psychology Today is a pretty good resource.

Even if you go to your local library - ask for assistance from the reference librarian if you have limited knowledge on researching for info. Good luck.

I will email you my paper on ADHD. I wasn't implying that you use forgery, I am just giving this to you to as a resource for your paper. I was a student recently as well and was always glad to get help with term papers. There is a reference list at the end which you may find helpful as well. As someone else mentioned, you can get a copy of the DSM-IV at most libraries and the complete criteria for ADHD is in there. At your school library you will probably be able to access medical journals as well. Here are some sites that you may find useful:

http://www.mhsource.com/disorders/adhd.html

http://www.chadd.org/

There are some interesting alternative models of ADHD out there as well, which take the stance that the drug companies and CHADD are pushing the diagnosis in order to make money through prescription sales. You can probably find those sites in Google. Definitely an interesting debate.

Good luck!

DSM IV is a great start. If you find yourself looking for medical journal articles, check out medline from NIH's National Library of Medicine. It's where I used to have to go when I was researching new medical technologies for a consulting firm I used to work for. It's a great resource, and on top of that, much is now available for free online (once apon a time it was a fee service). The search function on this link will bring up some of the stuff too (instead of just medline stuff):
